In a recent YouTube short Heath posted, he explained how to build bigger arms with incline dumbbell curls, walking his followers through a step-by-step process to ensure proper form.

“This is how I get down doing some incline dumbbell curls. Number one I want to make sure my seat is actually one that could be elevated. This bench right here is in a position of about 40°. Just lean back, start right here (up by the abdomen), don’t start right here (down towards the floor) because you end up having to swing it, so start right here and then slowly come down and then squeezing at the very very top” Heath explains.

Phil Heath explains that while curling with one arm, the other hand is still holding the other dumbbell stable, causing more time under tension before switching to complete the curls on that side.

“You want to get that good mind-muscle connection and as you see this is actually working out itself. I’m actually keeping this stable as I go because I want to have more time under tension while I’m actually getting these reps in.

So when I’m done here, now I hold it here and still get my workout in over here. Supinating the wrist, squeezing at the top, watching my tempo not making it go super quick on the way down, and stay swoll baby!”

In addition to staying in shape, Phil Heath provides an in-the-know voice within the bodybuilding community. Heath isn’t afraid to discuss the difficult topics that often come up regarding competing at the professional level. Heath has even opened up about the darkest part of his life, revealing he wanted to end more than just his career.

However, Heath has issued a warning to younger competitors after revealing the dark side of steroids. Heath fears that performance-enhancing drug use is getting out of hand and worries for the health and well-being of this generation’s bodybuilders.
