“I need to take care of myself Joe,” says Action Bronson.
Joe Rogan brought up Bronson’s past weight loss journey and how his son was a major push to get in shape.
“You have in the past. You know you made a big jump when you had one of your babies. One of your kids, you just decided I’m going to get fit now. You lost a ton of weight. You lost a ton of weight. You got real healthy.”
Before the podcast, Joe Rogan and Action Bronson smashed a training session together. They also trained in the past with John Wolf.
“You started working out all the time, and you and I worked out together at the OnIt Gym, and I was like, ‘Dude puts in work! That was real, that was like a real workout.’ You would obviously had been working out a lot because John Wolf, who is the master, one of the best trainers on earth. He put us through this workout. That was a serious workout man. Serious kettlebell shit, mobility shit, all these different body weight things. I think we did bear crawls, we did a lot of shit,” shares Rogan.
Bronson mentioned that the stretches before the workout were enough to get him sweating.
“I was drenched during the fucking stretch. Just during the warm-up stretch, it was harder than anything for me. Sometimes the stretching, it’s crazy for me.”
Over the past few years, Bronson has developed an appreciation for exercising and shared his desire to work on his core and midsection.
“I haven’t done it since then. I need to get back on that because those are the types of things. I want to work with a core specialist like him. I need the core work. Yeah, we got the pushing and this and that, that stuff is kind of easy for us, the pushing and shit but for me, I need more core work.”
“I need to stabilize this midsection, this bread basket,” says Bronson. “I’ve done yoga, I’ve done pilates.”
However, Bronson doesn’t enjoy doing frilly workouts like yoga, instead, he prefers ‘more manly’ ways to get in shape.
“I can’t stay on that kick. I don’t know, I need some animal shit. I know what I need for my body is probably yoga, but what I want to do is animal shit. It does [make me feel better] it makes me feel more manly.”
“I see you swinging that mace,” Rogan shares.
“Oh man, I feel like such a fucking barbarian. It’s a 60-pound hammer for fuck’s sake wrapped in leather. That feels fucking sick to manhandle that,” responds Bronson.
Speaking of feeling like a barbarian, Action Bronson previously joined up with former World’s Strongest Man Martin Licis where he smashed insane deadlifts. Bronson was able to keep up with the big boys doing three reps of 385 pounds. However, when Licis busted out the 500-pound deadlifts, Bronson accepted defeat. Bronson also recently teamed up with ‘Big Boy’ and smashed a new PR on the bench press at a whopping 315 pounds.
Bronson is dedicated to reaching new goals throughout his fitness journey and it shows. Fans and followers look forward to what’s next on the horizon for Action Bronson.
