Thor Bjornsson managed to capture his third victory at the Arnold Strongman Classic over the weekend. Speaking with the great Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, the Mountain got a bit emotional about his journey to get the win.
Bjornsson was able to secure a massive victory when he competed in Columbus, Ohio. The 31-year-old came into this contest as the reigning champion, having won both the 2018 and 2019 Arnold Strongman Classic, and he was looking to earn another trophy. He would be successful in these endeavors, after a strong performance throughout the event.
Following his victory, Bjornsson was presented his trophy from the man himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was at this point, that Thor was interview by the bodybuilding legend. Arnold asked him about his training leading up to the event, and he got a bit emotional.
“I spent 17 weeks, well honestly I’ve been training all year long. My life is all about this. Eating, sleeping, recovery.”
Arnold went on to joke about Thor’s extensive diet. Bjornsson explained that this was the hardest part of the prep. Moreover, he explained that he would consume 10,000 calories a day for every day of the preparation. However, he says that consistency is the key to success.
“It’s tough. It’s hard to be able to do that for 17 weeks. But people are consistent. If you stay consistent, you will progress.”

Perhaps the most excitement surrounded the Cyr Dumbbell event. It was the final event of the competition, and it showed Thor’s winning moment. Although he tried going for a world record 330lb, he was unable to, and instead clocked in at 300lb, which was still enough to win the contest.
Congratulations to Thor Bjornsson on winning the Arnold Strongman Classic.
