It’s no secret that greens are vital to good health, proper bodily function, and weight management. They’re full of essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and plant proteins. And while eating your kale and broccoli is always recommended, we’re fortunate that many top-notch brands offer a convenient and easy option to get your daily dose of plant nutrients.
Popular Utah-based company Transparent Labs offers something of this nature in its WellnessSeries Prebiotic Greens. The brand is all about full label transparency and including only what’s needed in effective research-backed doses.
This greens product doesn’t contain kale or broccoli but rather aquatic greens such as spirulina and chlorella combined with beneficial fibers to support a healthy gut and digestion.
But what people considering this product will want to know is, how it can benefit them. So let’s take a look at the formula and determine if it’s worth adding to your daily health regime.

Ingredients and Benefits
In this section, we’ve explained each ingredient and the potential benefits of each one.
Spirulina
Spirulina is categorized as a cyanobacteria or blue-green algae. This water-dwelling organism is unique because it can grow in extreme conditions unlike others in its class.

But what’s really impressive is that spirulina is a superior protein source, made up of about 60% protein. Not to mention, it contains omega 3 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and gamma linolenic acid; an omega 6 fatty acid that’s important for inflammation and other factors of health (1, 2, 3).
Organic chlorella
Chlorella is another algae that supposedly packs its own powerful punch of nutrients.
It’s composed of 50-60% protein like spirulina and is a complete protein containing all nine essential amino acids which isn’t typical with plant protein sources (4, 5).
Like spirulina, it also contains a little omega 3 fat. Then you get a respectable dose of iron and vitamin C, plus potassium, zinc, B vitamins, and more. There are also antioxidants that help protect the body’s cells against disease. Chlorella can also be a great source of fiber when consumed in adequate amounts.
Research has shown that there may be a variety of other health benefits such as detoxification, improved blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol, immune system health, PMS relief, and enhanced aerobic performance to name a few (6, 7, 8, 9).
One study showed reduced artery stiffness in young men after taking a chlorella-containing multicomponent supplement. This was said to likely be a result of antioxidants, arginine, potassium, fatty acids, and calcium, all of which play a role in heart health (10).
But Chlorella has to be taken in supplement form because it’s not able to be digested by the body (11).
Organic acacia fiber
Also called gum arabic, acacia fiber is a soluble fiber which means that when consumed, it combines with water to form a gel substance in the intestines.
As a result, it fills up in the stomach and creates a feeling of fullness, and thereby can help to prevent overeating, leading to increased weight loss effects. But soluble fiber has also shown to have many health benefits such as helping to manage blood sugar and digestive health, lowering cholesterol, supporting liver health, and relieving constipation.
In addition, it may act as a prebiotic which means it feeds healthy gut bacteria or probiotics.

Organic green banana flour (zuvii)
Green bananas are picked earlier which means there’s less sugar content and they also contain resistant starches that slow the insulin response and sugar spike. Although, fruits typically don’t have as much an effect on blood sugar compared to simple sugars in bread, pasta, etc.
Organic Jerusalem artichoke fiber
Jerusalem artichokes are known to contain inulin; a prebiotic fiber that feeds gut bacteria and supports a healthy digestive system.
In addition, there are insoluble fibers that create bulkier stools and help food more quickly pass through the stomach and intestines. They also contain caffeoylquinic acid.
According to a study on mice, this three-substance combination of ingredients may be superior to inulin-only supplements for supporting a healthy gut (12).
Chicory root
Chicory root comes from a flower in the dandelion family and it’s been used for hundreds of years due to its medicinal properties. It’s also commonly included in supplements and packaged foods.
Something that would be a surprise to many is that chicory root is also used as a coffee alternative but it doesn’t have any caffeine. It contains inulin as well that’s used to add more fiber or as a fat or sugar substitute because it gels up and has a sweetness to it.

But there are several potential benefits of chicory including supporting gut health, weight loss efforts, and blood sugar health (13, 14, 15).
Several studies used chicory-derived oligofructose and found some reduction in weight loss likely due to appetite suppression.
But because inulin and oligofructose were mostly used in studies, there needs to be more research on the potential weight loss-supporting effects of chicory root specifically.
Can Transparent Labs Prebiotic Greens Cause Any Side Effects?
It’s feasible to say that any nutritional supplement can cause side effects. Although, it depends on the product and how an individual may react to a certain ingredient.
That’s why anyone with medical needs or a history with it should consult with a medical professional prior to using any supplements, and especially ones with a list of ingredients.
Transparent Labs prebiotic greens doesn’t contain caffeine or anything similar which many try to avoid. But there are herbal compounds that work in the body to elicit some sort of change or effect that users should be aware of.
Cost
There are a few different purchase options with Transparent Labs prebiotic greens. As with most pricing structures, the more bottles you purchase, the less you’ll spend.
But for the quality of the product and the amount of each ingredient, none of the cost options are unreasonable.
If you purchase one tub, the cost per serving is about $1.30. For two tubs, you’ll pay $2.30 per serving and three tubs come out to $3.30 per serving.
There are 30 servings per container and one serving is equal to one scoop of powder.
You’ll have to pay shipping which depends on your location but they do offer free shipping when you spend $150+ (only in the US).
The pricing structure is as follows:
- 1 tub: $39
- 2 tubs: $69
- 3 tubs: $99

Flavors and Taste
This product comes in Peach Mango and there’s a naturally flavored option for those who prefer to mix their powder with other beverages or prepare it as they please.
Because the product does contain greens, you should expect it to taste accordingly. Many green products aren’t so palatable, however, Transparent Labs typically has great-tasting products from our experience so either option should meet expectations for most users who are OK with stevia added as a sweetener.

Is Transparent Labs WellnessSeries Prebiotic Greens Worth The Buy?
If you’re looking for a complete greens supplement that’s more than your weekly portion of kale and broccoli, then this product is certainly worth considering adding to your daily nutritional regime.
Transparent Labs strategically combined several ingredients that may offer a superior advantage over eating plain greens due to their impressive nutrition content. There’s a hefty mix of greens like spirulina and chlorella that are water-dwelling organisms and then you have a few gut supporting fibers.
The formula also included effective doses of each ingredient which is important because potency is key to reaping optimal benefits.
Prebiotic greens was formulated to help users detox from heavy metals and pollutants, but also help to manage good health and stave off disease with antioxidants and heart-healthy ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. Then, of course, you should see an improvement in digestive health with acacia, green banana flour, and more similarly effective ingredients.
It’s easy to be impressed by the mixture of ingredients in this greens and fiber blend and not to mention, it should be safe to use for most people.
