Bodybuilder Urs Kalecinski is setting his sights on the sport’s most prestigious title. On Sept. 28, 2025, he discussed his goal of one day winning the Open Mr. Olympia.

Kalecinski’s move to the Men’s Open was sudden. Considering there were criticisms about the size of his arms in Classic Physique, questions arose about his potential in the new category.

However, Kalecinski answered those concerns with a bigger, more complete physique at the 2025 ProMuscle Italy Pro. The victory established him as the first competitor to ever qualify for Olympia in Classic Physique and Men’s Open throughout a single season.

Kalecinski could’ve held out for Olympia, but wanted another test in the Open. At the Europa Pro Championship, he dominated en route to gold, demonstrating his ability to stand against top talent. Maybe it won’t happen this year, maybe not next year… but Kalecinski is convinced one day the Sandow trophy will be his.

Urs Kalecinski Says It’s Possible to Win the Open Mr. Olympia in Future: “I Really Believe It”

In the YouTube video, Kalecinski said he believes it’s possible to win the Open Mr. Olympia title.

“It sounds crazy to say… but I think it’s going to be possible to win an Olympia title in the Open class. For real, I really believe it.”

He explained that he’s not arrogant and knows he probably won’t achieve the goal in the next two years.

“No, I don’t want to say it’s this year or next year or some bullshit like this — I’m not cocky at all or arrogant. I really believe I can make it because now I have a vision in my mind of how I can look now, which I didn’t have in Classic Physique.”

As for Shawn Ray suggesting he skip the Olympia, Kalecinski said he’s entitled to his opinion, but won’t miss out on the opportunity.

“He is a legendary bodybuilder, and it’s cool that you have your opinion. That’s how the world is. Everybody should speak freely and speak whatever they want as long as they don’t hurt anyone. All the love to you. For me, it’s time to get on the plane to the Olympia and see what’s going on from there,” Urs Kalecinski said

Wesley Vissers, who competed against Kalecinski for years, gave his predictions heading into the massive event. He argued Samson Dauda would pull off a successful title defense with Nick Walker, Hadi Choopan, and Derek Lunsford trailing behind. He also picked Kalecinski to secure a spot in the top eight.
