Wesley Vissers plans to re-insert himself into the Olympia title picture with a dominant performance at the 2025 Arnold Classic, taking place February 27 to March 2. On December 22, 2024, via YouTube, he joined his coach to push through a brutal chest and triceps workout.
Wesley Vissers has quickly established himself in Classic Physique. He achieved the improbable and pulled off back-to-back wins at the Arnold Classic Ohio and UK shows. These performances positioned him as one of Chris Bumstead’s main threats on the Olympia stage.
When it was time for the 2024 Classic Physique Olympia, ‘The Dutch Oak’ missed the mark. He appeared visibly flat and lacked the definition that had resulted in his earlier victories, leading to an eighth-place finish, a shocking result for many who had considered him a serious threat.

- Super Upper Chest Fly Machine
- Vertical Chest Press Machine
- Cable Triceps Pushdown
- Seated Cable Overhead Tricep Extension
- Standing Lateral Raise Machine (Superset A)
- Cable Upright Row – (Superset B)

Vissers emphasized throughout the training session that he thinks the chest, in addition to shoulders and arms, are pivotal for Classic Physique competitors, so he is ensuring he pays extra attention to those muscle groups.
“As you all know, I think training chest is very important. It’s kind of like the trademark of a good Classic bodybuilder. That’s my personal opinion. When you think about Classic bodybuilding, you always think about good chest, good shoulders, good arms.”
He also advised that if there is ever any pain during a movement, to simply slow down and lighten the weight.
“If you ever feel impingements or pain or discomfort in a movement, just go twice as slow. You can do half of the weight and you’ll only feel it in the muscle because the pump right now is pretty much insane.”
Wesley Vissers shared that outside obligations during the Olympia Weekend affected his ability to properly peak for the prestigious stage.
“I think the Olympia, for me, I think I had to expect a bit more preparation of myself as I was taking into the press conference, and then the same day the weigh-in, the meet and greet.
I was under a lot of pressure from a lot of people the whole time and I didn’t expect that I was being away for so many hours from the apartment” Vissers shared.
While the former six-time Classic Physique champion Chris Bumstead won’t appear on the Olympia stage after retiring, Vissers will still face fierce competition at the 2025 Arnold Classic. Among them will be Mike Sommerfeld, who took silver after an incredibly close encounter with ‘Cbum.’
The stakes are high for Wesley Vissers as he attempts to defend the Arnold Classic title and redeem his standing in the sport. Only nine weeks remain before the event, don’t miss it!
