Yoga and CrossFit? CrossFit and Yoga? Can Yoga CrossFit be the next great fitness trend?

Despite being on two opposite ends of the spectrum, Yoga and CrossFit are closer than you think. Here are six reasons why you should mix Yoga and CrossFit.

6. Yoga Helps With Balance

Of course, you already knew that if you have ever taken a single Yoga class. Yoga is all about balance. For any sport or physical activity, balance is extremely important.

As you know, CrossFit requires excellent balance, mobility, and control throughout your workout. Yoga improves balance in almost every way. through muscle memory and movement patterns, Yoga is a great complement to CrossFit.

5. Yoga Is Great At Improving Gymnastic Movements

Flexibility is also a huge part of Yoga. Working on Gymnastic movements will help you in many of CrossFit’s most popular workouts. Shoulder strength and mobility are big parts of all exercises. Yoga poses improve on both form and endurance in these areas.

Pull-ups and muscles up relies heavily on some of the same poses Yoga uses. Overall hand strength is another aspect aided by Yoga’s more gymnastics. Overall, improved flexibility will lead to fewer injuries as well.

Yoga is all about body mobility. Understanding your own body movements will help you get better at CrossFit. In addition, better flexibility is also a byproduct of knowing your own body better.

A tight posterior chain will weaken both your lifts and overall performance in CrossFit. For example, cleans, snatches, box jumps, squats, and other common exercises will be improved thanks to better mobility.

*Eliminate deficiencies in your overall body

3. Yoga Builds Overall Strength

When done properly, Yoga can improve your overall strength. Yoga helps you use your body in completely new ways. The slower and deliberate movements of Yoga have proven to aid in strength training.

An often overlooked aspect of Yoga CrossFit training is the effect on stamina. In other words, building out your endurance is a big part of Yoga. Endurance is huge in CrossFit.

Using metabolic stress and progressive overload, Yoga can be used as a strength training tool.

*Static holds on muscles
*Improved Pose progressions

2. Yoga Allows For Better Breathing

For instance, this plays back into improved cardio. Therefore, if Yoga has you working on your breathing, your overall stamina will improve.

Similarly, all Yoga wants you to focus on your breathing. After that, proper breathing techniques leads to more oxygen and energy.. Who doesn’t need an extra boost when grinding through a CrossFit WOD?

Yoga will increase the net of variation of your fitness training. In addition, adding Yoga to your CrossFit can assist muscle recovery and aid in overall soreness.

Yoga is a perfect way to improve your mental well being and movement, which will help every aspect of your CrossFit game.
