The 2023 Musclecontest Japan Pro bodybuilding contest took place on February 18-19 in Kawasaki, Japan. A total of 12 competitors of Bikini Division were slated to compete with the winner receiving an invitation to the next Mr. Olympia competition, taking place in the first week of November 2-5.

This year’s Olympia qualification details have changed. Moving forward, the IFBB Pro League has decided to eliminate the point system. Thus, in order for an athlete to qualify for Mr. Olympia, they must win a pro show. Of course, all past winners have automatic invitations as well as any competitors who placed in the top three at 2022 Olympia last December (excluding the Men’s Open, which automatically invites its top five finishers back).

Heading into this weekend’s show, fans have a close eye on Sarah Choi, who has appeared on the Olympia stage twice during her career (15th in 2020, tied for 16th in 2021). At her last contest, Choi impressed with a second-place finish at the 2022 Monsterzym Pro. In addition, the bodybuilding community was eager to see how Nittaya Kongthun, Shanae DiCicco and Asaka Kimura would fare in their respective returns.
