The last weekend of August (26-27) saw the 2023 Black Swan Breon Ansley MGB Mexico Grand Battle Pro take place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This event was a 2023 Mr. Olympia qualifier for competitors from the Classic Physique division.
Athletes were all after one prize this weekend: qualification to the prestigious Mr. Olympia competition, which is slated to take place from November 2-5 inside the Orange County Convention Center. The point system is no longer in place so athletes must win Pro shows to guarantee their spots on the big stage.
Classic Physique is by far one of the most popular and talked-about divisions in the league. The top three finishers from last year’s Olympia are automatically invited back to compete in the annual event this year. After bringing perhaps the best look of his career, Eduardo Oliveira claimed gold in Mexico. He will now have the opportunity to test himself against the current reigning four-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead.
