Joe Weider’s 59th annual 2023 Olympia and Fitness Performance Weekend is here and taking place November 2-5 in Orlando, Florida’s Orange County Convention Center. Competitors from the Wellness category met on Friday, November 3 at 1:30 p.m. for prejudging with the hope of securing the sport’s most coveted title.
Although this category is relatively new in the IFBB, Wellness has quickly exploded in popularity. This division emphasizes symmetry, and proportions with a particular focus on the lower body, including the thighs, hips, and calves of the athletes.
Last year, Francielle Mattos brought one of the best looks of her career and took first place at the Wellness Olympia. However, to defend her title successfully this year, she will need to get through some challenging foes such as Isabelle Nunes and Kassandra Gillis.
During prejudging on Friday, Mattos’ lower body definition and density demanded attention early and the crowd appreciated her posing routine. However, the balance and symmetry of Isabelle Nunes also helped her emerge as a legitimate title threat. Given the amount of talent on stage, the judges were in for a challenging job.
Ultimately, the final call-out (seventh) featured the reigning champ, Francielle Mattos and Isabelle Nunes leading the pack. They took part in a heated showdown during prejudging and fans look forward to seeing who comes out on top as the 2023 Olympia Wellness queen tonight!
