The 2024 Ms. Olympia contest is approaching so it’s time to take a closer look at the top threats hoping to take home the prestigious title. This is the most important Women’s Bodybuilding show of the year and takes place on Friday, October 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada with prejudging in the morning and finals that evening.

This bodybuilding division was created in 1980, and although it’s been removed from the Olympia docket before, its fanfare has brought it back. In 2023, Andrea Shaw cemented her name in the hall-of-fame books, securing her fourth Ms. Olympia title. Runner-up Angela Yeo enters this contest with solid momentum, and many expect a back-and-forth battle between these two contenders when the curtains rise.

2024 Ms. Olympia Full Lineup

  • Andrea Shaw
  • Angela Yeo
  • Alcione Santos Barreto
  • Leyvina Rodrigues Barros
  • Theresa Ivancik
  • Julia Whitesel
  • Ashley Lynnette Jones
  • Ava Melillo
  • Nadia Capotosto
  • Helle Trevino
  • Anastasia Leonova
  • Michaela Aycock
  • Sherry Priami
  • Kristina Mendoza
  • Alida Opre
  • Hunter Henderson

2024 Ms. Olympia Preview: Top Names to Watch

  • Andrea Shaw
  • Angela Yeo
  • Alcione Santos Barreto
  • Sherry Priami
  • Kristina Mendoza
  • Michaela Aycock

Andrea Shaw

With four Ms. Olympia bodybuilding titles sitting on her mantle, Andrea Shaw stands above the pack as the most accomplished IFBB Pro on the stage. It’s not just her fresh muscularity that overwhelms competitors but her seamless posing transitions and back-to-front symmetry. She has a handful of knock-out poses too, like her front lat spread and back double biceps.

While Shaw has enjoyed the Ms. Olympia crown for years, there are notable contenders looking to insert themselves into the title picture. During Shaw’s recent appearance at the 2024 Rising Phoenix Pro, she took second place behind Angela Yeo, who will be in attendance at the Ms. Olympia aiming to replicate that success.

Angela Yeo

Angela Yeo is easily the biggest threat to Shaw’s Ms. Olympia title. She took second place to Shaw at the 2023 Ms. Olympia but gave the champion a run for her money. Yeo also just experienced a massive victory over the reigning Ms. Olympia at the recent 2024 Rising Phoenix Pro show. Yeo has a well-rounded physique, deep ab separation, and balanced proportions.

With tighter conditioning and tweaks to her stage presence, she managed to get the better of Shaw in Arizona. Should she adopt a similar strategy with even more detail to her look, she could potentially walk away victorious once again.

Alcione Santos Barreto

Alcione Santos Barreto took third at the 2023 Ms. Olympia, showcasing one of her most shredded packages to date. She’s always within arm’s reach of gold and this year could be the one where she brings an undeniable look capable of winning the title. One of Barreto’s best weapons is her lower body density and conditioning, which gives her a special advantage when it’s time for side poses.

With Barreto’s last contest being the 2023 Ms. Olympia, she will look to assert herself atop the division with the improvements she made in the off-season. If she brings more conditioning and a powerful X-frame, she could make waves assuming she makes the final call-out.

Sherry Priami

Sherry Priami placed fourth at the 2023 Ms. Olympia contest and is a proven contender at every show she enters. She is familiar with facing off against Shaw and Yeo, so she knows how to stay composed and present herself effectively, especially under pressure. Priami’s outstanding shoulders make her front lat spread one of her strongest.

Priami also recently took fourth at the 2024 Rising Phoenix Pro. She believes she’s improved enough to rise up the ranks when the biggest show of the year takes over Vegas. The Women’s Bodybuilding division has been unpredictable lately, so ruling her out could work against the top contenders.

Michaela Aycock

Having finished sixth on the Ms. Olympia stage last year, Michaela Aycock has set her sights on gold in 2024. Her improvements and momentum have been impossible to overlook. From bringing up her hamstrings to bigger biceps, she is coming into her own as a Women’s Bodybuilding standout. Aycock last took to the stage at the 2024 Rising Phoenix Pro, where she earned fifth place.

Aycock easily has one of the most potent and complete front double biceps in the game, which will work to her benefit on stage. If her back detail matches the quality muscle she brings from the front, she could push into the final call-out and make a bid for gold.

Kristina Mendoza

Despite not competing in the 2023 Ms. Olympia last year because her body wasn’t responding to prep, Kristina Mendoza has proven she’s a force to be reckoned with in the Women’s Bodybuilding category. Her bursting fullness, clean quad sweeps, and taper remain her strongest attributes.

Mendoza tested herself at the 2024 Tampa Pro which she won with a perfectly balanced combination of fullness and conditioning. If she stays competitive during back and side poses, she has a shot at disrupting the lineup when she takes to the stage.

Dark Horses

  • Theresa Ivancik
  • MayLa Ash

Theresa Ivancik

While Theresa Ivancik wasn’t at the 2023 Ms. Olympia contest, her physique is always one to watch out for. She has an aesthetic blend of shape and muscle hardness that makes her stand out during direct comparisons with other athletes.

She has proven to be a threat even when lineups are stacked with talent. Ivancik last competed at the 2024 Triple O Dynasty Pro earlier in the season and she cruised to a dominant victory, showcasing all-time best conditioning. Given her recent improvements, she stands a solid chance at pushing some threats in the finals.

MayLa Ash

Mayla Ash always delivers on the bodybuilding stage and her strength of schedule makes her a dangerous contender. Ash took seventh at the 2023 Ms. Olympia competition but didn’t waste any time bouncing back with impressive performances.

In 2024, Mayla Ash competed at the Chicago Pro, turning in a respectable third-place finish. After that, Ash took fifth place at the highly competitive Tampa Pro competition. Her front double biceps and standing relaxed shots are complete which means she’s never out of the running to shock the world. Although, if she wants to push the very best of this category, she’ll need enough mass to pull it off.

The showdown between Andrea Shaw and Angela Yeo will undoubtedly be a close contest. It could come down to who simply peaks more effectively on show day, or if one competitor made undeniable improvements throughout their off-seasons.
