Fan enthusiasm for the current bodybuilding season has rapidly intensified as the 2024 Tupelo Pro took over Tupelo, MS from August 16-17. This contest, a prestigious 2024 Mr. Olympia qualifier, featured athletes from four categories: Classic Physique, Figure, Women’s Physique, and Wellness.
Based on the 2023 Tupelo Pro show, fans, and athletes expected another exhilarating weekend of bodybuilding action. While last year’s gathering only featured two divisions, this weekend’s show added two more classes, adding unprecedented stakes for athletes on the hunt for their Mr. Olympia qualifications.
2024 Tupelo Pro Winners
- Classic Physique: Kim Angel
- Figure: Rhea Gayle
- Women’s Physique: Jeanette Johansson
- Wellness: Jasmine Baker
Time is dwindling ahead of the greatest show of the season, meaning there are fewer opportunities available for contenders who have yet to stamp their ticket to the marquee event. The pressure certainly didn’t prevent Kim Angel from taking over the stage with refined aesthetic appeal and dry conditioning, only made more impressive by his posing routine. He now has a showdown with Chris Bumstead waiting for him in October.
Rhea Gayle and Jeanette Johansson delivered gold in the Figure and Women’s Physique divisions, having proved themselves with superior shape complimented by crowd-pleasing routines and overwhelming confidence. They now have a date with the respective Olympia champions, which include the highly dominant seven-time Figure Olympia titleholder Cydney Gillon and three-time champ Sarah Villegas.
To close out the show, Jasmine Baker presented a package with little to no weaknesses. Her stage presence and routine made a compelling case for gold. Sporting perhaps the most density of any Wellness competitor, she pulled off the big win with a statement performance. She’ll square off with three-time reigning champion Francielle Mattos in the months to come.
