Hafthor Bjornsson Finally Wins World’s Strongest Man Title

Iceland’s Hafthor Julius Bjornsson and the Game of Thrones star known as The Mountain crowned the title of World’s Strongest Man 2018 on Sunday. The 2018 WSM competition took place in Manila, Philippines, after spending the past two years in Botswana.

The 29-year-old Hafthor bested a field of 30 strongmen, including the four-time winner Brian Shaw of the United States. Hafthor dominated in the finals, winning the Overhead Press and Loading Race to secure first overall.

The 2017 World’s Strongest Man Champion Eddie Hall was not competing in this year’s competition due to an injury. Mateusz Koelszokwski of Poland finished second while Brian Shaw settled for third place in the nine-day event.  Check out the result below:

2018 is Hafthor Bjornsson’s year, in March, he put on a dominated performance to win the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic Ohio and over a month later, he won the 2018 Europe’s Strongest Man, he’s currently in a class all his own.
