- Calories burned per minute = (MET x body weight in Kg x 3.5) ÷ 200
What is MET?
MET stands for metabolic equivalents, a measure used to approximate calories burned from physical activity over a specific period of time or duration.

One MET is equivalent to about 3.5 millimeters of oxygen consumed per kilogram of bodyweight per minute. To determine how much oxygen your muscles consume take your weight in kilograms and multiply by 3.5.

There you have it, a 140 lb person will burn roughly 286 calories in 60 minutes of arching.
How Accurate is The Calculator?
This is difficult and almost impossible to determine given how little information about a person is used to estimate calories burned from archery.
That’s because body composition (muscle to fat tissue ratio), age, sex, environment etc are not factored into the formula and these variables do significantly affect energy expenditure.
