IFBB Pro League’s Nick Walker has taken the bodybuilding world by storm with his monstrous physique. In a recent video posted on YouTube, Walker shared the best practices for working out and plans to maintain an impressive package like bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler has in retirement.
Nick Walker first made headlines for his freaky muscle mass and size in 2020 when he finished fourth at the Chicago Pro. Walker turned in an amazing season the following year that started with a dominant victory at the 2021 New York Pro. He scored another win at the 2021 Arnold Sports Festival before making his way to the Mr. Olympia competition, where he placed fifth in his debut.
He is coming off a stunning performance at the 2022 Mr. Olympia, where he improved his rank to third place and won the Olympia People’s Champ award. He recently got confirmed to compete at the upcoming 2023 Arnold Classic, scheduled for Mar. 2-5 in Columbus, Ohio.
Walker enters as the betting favorite to win the show but will face intense competition from fellow standouts Samson Dauda, Andrew Jacked, and former two-time Mr. Olympia champion Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay. Dauda believes he has a better package and is confident he can defeat Walker by playing his own game.

Former four-time Mr. Olympia champion Jay Cutler weighed in on the nearing contest a few days ago. While he liked Walker’s chances to win, he suggested Ramy could pull off an upset if he comes in at his best. Meanwhile, bodybuilding guru Milos Sarcev sees the trophy coming down to a battle between Walker, Jacked, and Dauda. He praised Walker’s undeniable freak factor but argued that it should not take priority over shape and aesthetics.
Nick Walker shares his best tips for working out
In a recent YouTube video, Nick Walker shared his best tips for working out. He does not focus on lifting as heavy and instead targets as much time under tension as possible.
“It’s literally all about time under tension because when I did that, I felt everything but my chest. I was using every muscle but my chest. My chest started to grow more when I started using more machines. I stopped using free weights so much and if I did use free weights, it was literally the third or fourth exercise I’d do. I don’t really do barbell at all anymore. I love dumbbells. I stick to them. But I don’t start with that. They are usually in the middle or at the end because I can’t go as heavy so I focus more on contracting rather than the weight.”
Walker enjoys lifting heavy but does not make it a priority. Instead, he prefers to perform slow and controlled reps.
“At the end of the day, we are bodybuilders. I’m not a powerlifter. Sure, they’re fun. F**k yeah bro, this sh*t’s fun to lift heavy weights sometimes but I have to think of the bigger picture. What is it going to do career-wise for me?”
“I do reps very slow and controlled as it taxes you way harder than just pumping sh*t out… I don’t like to go lower than 10 reps. But I don’t like to do four sets of failure with any weight.”
Walker wants to keep his muscular physique like Jay Cutler after retirement
‘The Mutant’ praised Jay Cutler for maintaining a jacked physique after retiring from the sport. He plans to follow in his footsteps when it’s time for him to hang up his posing trunks.
“Yeah, all the time. I don’t want to be skinny by any means,” said Cutler. “I like the way Jay Cutler took his approach. He’s nowhere near his size but he ain’t small. He enjoys training and eating healthy. I enjoyed doing that before I competed. What am I going to do when I’m done completing? The same sh*t. I’m not going to be taking certain things but I’m still going to enjoy training just as much as I did when I was competing if not more now.”
Prolific coach Chris Aceto recently dropped a massive teaser for Walker’s next showing at the 2023 Arnold Classic. He claimed Walker already looks better than he did during his Olympia prep and will bring his best package next month.
Walker has been using the sedative/stimulant kratom in preparation for another fierce war on stage to reclaim his title.
