Like scenes out of a horror movie, tragedy occurred yesterday (October 17, 2023) in the city of Botucatu, São Paul, Brazil after former bodybuilding champ Eustácio Batista Dias was murdered in cold blood by two assassins. The incident was caught on security cameras and has been making the rounds on social media.
Security footage showed Eustácio Batista Dias training in the weightlifting room before the two attackers entered the gym. It didn’t take long before the two men trapped Dias and proceeded to fire off live ammunition rounds into the bodybuilder. Dias sustained multiple gunshot wounds at point-blank range and later collapsed to the floor.
Prior to being shot, Dias was seen conversing with the killers. The assailants continued to fire their weapons until fleeing the scene. The execution video also showed an unidentified man in a blue t-shirt who was shot, although he was not seriously injured.

According to the latest updates, police rushed to the gruesome scene. However, authorities have been unable to retrieve the suspects. While an official investigation is underway, it is unclear at the time of this writing why the gunmen targeted the victim. It’s important to note that the bodybuilding champ had updated his Instagram story from his phone just moments before being murdered.
As for his bodybuilding career, Eustácio Batista Dias was a national champion in the Men’s Physique Junior division. One of his biggest tenure highlights saw him win the 2019 State Championship award in Espiritu, Santo, near Rio de Janeiro, which he achieved with a ripped body, complete with detailed muscle volume.
Bodybuilders have had a rough go as of late. From Jo Lindner’s untimely demise to Christian Figueiredo dying on the operating table, some believe the sport has become too dangerous — and that includes names like bodybuilding legend and former seven-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger and eight-time winner, Lee Haney.
With Eustácio Batista Dias’ murderers still on the loose, the case is far from closed. We at Fitness Volt extend our deepest condolences to Dias’ family and friends during this challenging time.
