Dwayne Coleman is definitely on course to become one of the best powerlifters in the world, as the 18-year-old managed to land a 900-pound (408.2-kilogram) Equipped Squat in his recent outing. The humongous lift took place at the 2024 LHSPLA Louisiana State Championships, which occurred on March 20 – 23, in Lafayette, LA. Unsurprisingly, Coleman’s squat marked a new State Record.

Dwayne Coleman seemingly wore a single-ply suit during his 900-pound (408.2-kilogram) squat, alongside a pair of knee wraps. However, none of that takes away from the fact that he managed to squat as much weight at such a young age.

Moreover, by the looks of his lift, Dwayne Coleman has not yet found his one-rep-max, as it seemed that he was capable of adding even more weight to the bar. He had no trouble unracking or walking out with 900 pounds (408.2 kilograms), but also managed to maintain a perfect technique throughout his speedy squat.

Dwayne Coleman’s Full Performance

Dwayne Coleman weighed in at 462.9 pounds (210 kilograms) for his appearance at the 2024 LHSPLA Louisiana State Championships. So, he competed in the super heavyweight division and dominated all of his peers. In the process, he set multiple State Records, including a squat, bench press, and Total.

Apart from setting records and winning his weight class, Dwayne Coleman was also awarded the “Outstanding Lifter” award for his exceptional performance. So, with everything accounted for, there is no doubt that Dwayne is one of the strongest and most impressive teenagers in the world currently.

Squat

  • Unsuccessful — 845 pounds (383.3 kilograms)
  • 845 pounds (383.3 kilograms)
  • 875 pounds (396.9 kilograms)

Note: Dwayne was allowed a fourth attempt (900-lb / 408.2-kg) on the squats for the sole purpose of breaking the state record. So, it did not count towards his total, but it did mark a new record.

Bench Press

  • 455 pounds (206.4 kilograms)
  • 475 pounds (215.5 kilograms)
  • 500 pounds (226.8 kilograms)

Deadlift

  • 630 pounds (285.8 kilograms)
  • Unsuccessful — 700 pounds (317.5 kilograms)
  • Unsuccessful — 700 pounds (317.5 kilograms)

Total — 2,005 pounds (909.5 kilograms)

Many of today’s greatest powerlifters began their careers in equipped powerlifting, but rarely has anyone put up as heavy lifts as Dwayne Coleman is displaying. So, he might be one of the biggest prospects that the sport has seen in a long time. With plenty of years ahead of him, Dwayne should only get better. So, it would not be a surprise to see him squat over 1,000 pounds (453.6 kilograms) in the near future.
