Colby Covington is the new UFC interim welterweight champion.
Colby Covington won by unanimous decision over Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC 225 co-main event. Colby Covington came out aggressive and set the pace and score multiple takedowns. Rafael dos Anjos scramble backs to his feet often and landing some pretty solid strikes as but RDA struggled to maintain the space for any sustained amount of time.

Colby executed his grinding style throughout the fight and forced RDA to work and carry his weight. RDA had a momentum swing in his favor when he scored a couple of takedowns in the fourth round, and started grinding on Covington. But Colby Covington kept on with his grinding ways into the fifth round. In the final frame of the fight, Covington dumped RDA to the floor a little over one minute in. Shortly after, RDA was able to pop back up. The two swung away near the end of the fight. Covington landed a right hand. The horn sounded shortly after.

After winning Covington fired shots at Tyron Woodley and made it clear he wants to put his title on Donald Trump’s desk. He blasted Woodley for not showing up to compete at UFC 225.
