Martin Fitzwater Promises ‘Bigger Chest, Better Arms and Posing’ at 2024 Mr. Olympia: “It’s Been The Best Prep of My Life”

The official countdown for the 2024 Mr. Olympia is underway as bodybuilders finalize their preparations for the biggest contest of the year. In a recent YouTube video shared on September 28, 2024, Martin Fitzwater discussed his progress, revealing that his chest, arms, and posing have improved in time for his first showing on the prestigious stage.

Martin Fitzwater’s rise in the Men’s Open circuit has been entertaining to watch, especially since no one saw him coming. He made drastic improvements to his physique in one year. He earned his right to compete at the 60th anniversary of Mr. Olympia after dominating at the 2024 Detroit Pro, defeating big names in the category like Vitaliy ‘Good Vito’ Ugolnikov.

Despite the success, he didn’t shut down his season. Instead, Fitzwater bet on himself, squaring off against Nick ‘The Mutant’ Walker at Steve Weinberger’s latest New York Pro competition. Ultimately, ‘The Martian’ gave Walker a run for his money en route to taking second place by only one point throughout prejudging and the finals. With more momentum than ever, Fitzwater plans to shock the world when he takes on the Open class at the upcoming Olympia contest.

“Honestly, it’s been the best prep of my life. So, before this, it was New York was the best prep of my life, everything just clicking going well, training with my best friend having fun and honestly, there’s been no stress going into this. As much as there’s been some talk of how well I can do and what I’m capable of, I’m just having fun enjoying bodybuilding.”

Specifically, Fitzwater revealed that he made substantial improvements to his chest, arms, and posing.

“I’m really happy with the progressions I made from New York and really that’s all you can do. You know bodybuilding, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. What we did is we took the feedback and we did exactly that. I got a bigger chest, little better arms, posing is better.”

Given that this will be his first time competing on the Olympia stage, he was grateful for the opportunity and isn’t taking it lightly.

“So I’m really excited to get some feedback today and then we got some time to make a little bit of adjustments and really come in at my best that I’ve ever been on stage which if there’s any stage to do it, this is the one to do it. Super excited and honestly just grateful for the opportunity.”

The only notable changes he made for preparations were adjustments to his diet otherwise his training has largely remained the same other than extra sessions for arms and chest growth.

“We’ve pushed a little bit harder with the diet because we got to grow a slight bit between New York and now. So, we’ve been able to dig in a little deeper if you will. But necessarily, it’s been pretty much the same. Training has been the same. Brett and I, if you guys know, we push each other to the absolute max. We’re like the Johnnie and Branch of this generation if you will.”

He admitted that training alongside his best friend, fellow IFBB Pro Brett Wilkin, has paid dividends, comparing their comradery to Branch Warren and Johnnie Jackson.

“We’re just having fun kicking each other’s butt and just enjoying bodybuilding at its fullest. Diet is the same macro-wise and stuff like that. Really, it’s just building off what we already had. We were very happy with the package in New York and then it was just making smaller finer adjustments.

We did add a little bit of chest and arm training volume. But otherwise, it’s been pretty much the same because we really liked what we brought to New York and all we can do is improve from that,” shares Martin Fitzwater.

Even though he’s competing next weekend, that hasn’t stopped Fitzwater from offering his predictions for the Super Bowl of Bodybuilding. He believes Samson Dauda could end up winning the sport’s greatest title and sees himself in fourth place, defeating popular mainstays of the division like Nick Walker, Andrew Jacked, and Hunter Labrada.

Counting out Fitzwater would be a mistake for his opponents as he’s shown a penchant for rapid improvements. Don’t miss his first Mr. Olympia contest next weekend from October 11-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada; Fitness Volt will have live coverage of the festivities.
