Classic Physique bodybuilder Urs Kalecinski wasted no time returning to the gym after earning a third-place finish at the 2024 Classic Physique Olympia. In a recent YouTube video shared on October 20, 2024, Kalecinski blasted through a chest workout alongside fitness influencer Sam Sulek.
Urs Kalecinski has been fine-tuning his physique in hopes of one day taking Chris Bumstead’s place, who has been dominating the Classic Physique division since beating Breon Ansley in 2019. With his recent retirement, fans are beginning to discuss who the next titleholder will be. Having earned bronze back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, Kalecinski was confident he would finally achieve his goal this year.
However, unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the case, and Urs Kalecinski would earn his third bronze medal while on the prestigious 2024 Classic Physique Olympia stage. Kalecinski wasted no time, returning to the gym just one day later to smash a chest workout with fitness influencer Sam Sulek.
Sulek has dominated the social media scene, amassing over 3.6 million followers on YouTube alone. Most individuals follow Sam Sulek because of his incredible physique at the age of just 22, as well as his engaging content surrounding health, fitness, and training.

Sam Sulek has hinted at competing in the Classic Physique division within the next year or so. He has received backlash regarding his unconventional eating and workout methods but Urs Kalecinski believes Sulek is doing things the right way. Kalecinski went as far as comparing Sulek to himself when he first started training years ago.
“So it’s the day after the Olympia, we have the future right next to me. This kid is just me 10 years ago when I started with the training and you got so much shit about your training technique, how you eat and all that stuff, it’s so good what you do. That’s the right way, you know, because now everybody gives you shit about training, he’s doing progress” Kalecinski said.

Urs Kalecinski believes Sam Sulek could be a great bodybuilding competitor in the future.
“He gets peeled and then he gets on stage and I think we all can get excited for it because he’s not just an influence, I think he also can do a great job on stage.”
While discussing his diet, Sulek alluded to possibly beginning prep this spring.
“For me, I’m not hungry enough. If I’m not tracking it, I’m just not going to grow. That makes the dieting side easier. I’m already down 10 pounds just from eating whatever,” said Sulek. “Honestly, this will be – this will loop into a prep. Springtime, let’s see what happens” Sam Sulek shared.
Urs Kalecinski and Sam Sulek’s Chest Exercises:
- Hammer Strength Chest Press Machine
- Machine Vertical Chest Press Nautilus
- Mid-Pully Cable Crossover
- Pec Fly Machine
Before beginning the workout, Kalecinski and Sulek do a light cable warm-up to get the chest fibers firing.
Hammer Strength Chest Press Machine
Urs Kalecinski revealed that they were doing an intense chest workout, admitting that Sulek might outshine him with heavier weights.
“We’re doing a juicy chest pump today,” said Kalecinski. “I think it’s going to be the one chance Sam can out-angle me in the weights.”
Sulek strategized how he could go about getting his Pro card, flirting with the idea of testing the waters as either a Classic Physique or Open bodybuilder.
“Whatever. If I’m too heavy for the amateur show, just compete as a heavyweight guy and then switch classes later.”
Kalecinski agreed with Sulek, emphasizing that it is much easier to get a Pro card now in the Open.
“Yeah, you could easily get your Pro card in bodybuilding. I would say it’s easier nowadays to do it in bodybuilding,” explains Kalecinski. “We all love to do some heavy stuff but you saw with the twins, doing six plates… I mean if you’re a competitive powerlifter that’s another thing.”

In between sets, Sulek revealed his current training split.
“I’ll do chest, then back, and then arms, and then legs, and then it’ll just repeat,” said Sulek. “I’ll throw a rest day in there when necessary.”
“I’m going to feel my lower pecs stretch more [on this exercise] than my upper here. But at the squeeze, my whole chest is solid.”
“Training chest I would say is the easiest thing ever,” adds Kalecinski.
Mid-Pully Cable Crossover
During mid-pully cable crossovers, Kalecinski imparts some tips to Sulek about arm placement.
“Think about putting your elbows together, open the arms up a bit more, and stay up. Now it’s working. Put the head up [during reps].”
Pec Fly Machine
Finishing with the pec fly machine, Kalecinski and Sulek discussed the benefits of drop sets.
“It’s a good finisher here,” said Kalecinski. “The reintroduction of the Kalecinski drop sets. The past six weeks, I didn’t do any intensifiers at all. I think it was way better. I stuck to way more muscle mass during my prep because I just lifted heavy weights.”
“I had a year long period. Every set was a dropset. It didn’t matter if it was a squat or bench, every time,” said Sulek.
“I think you can profit a lot off of it,” adds Kalecinski.
While Sam Sulek is contemplating getting his Pro card and competing within the Classic Physique division, bodybuilding veterans have begun discussing whether Urs Kalecinski should move to the Open. However, Dennis Wolf argued that Kalecinski is too small and hasn’t made enough improvements over the past few years.
“But if you’re not improving, so like we see the Classic, you need a thicker back and bigger biceps, that’s where Urs is not improving in the last two years.”
Bodybuilding is constantly evolving and growing, opening the doors for several athletes to either get their start, like Sam Sulek, or potentially make a calculated move up divisions. Fans of the sport look forward to what the 2025 bodybuilding season will bring for both Kalecinski and Sulek.
