Dave Bautista is closing in on his next blockbuster project, but first, he’s got some work to do. In a September 3 post, the 57-year-old acting legend showed off his progress as he aims to transform his physique to play Kratos in the upcoming God of War television series.
Bautista’s claim to fame came courtesy of his highly successful professional wrestling career. He won the WWE Championship twice and the World Heavyweight Championship four times to cement his legacy. He transitioned to acting and has thrived since. Bautista has appeared in countless top-grossing movies, including the popular Avengers franchise, where he plays Drax the Destroyer.
Previously, Bautista bulked up to a staggering 370 pounds for movie roles, but eventually lost the weight. Considering what fans were used to seeing on the big screen, many were shocked by his downsized physique. However, those concerns can be put to rest now. For Bautista to accurately portray Kratos, a Spartan warrior from ancient Greece, packing on some serious muscle will be a top priority.
Dave Bautista’s Insane Physique Update for God of War Body Transformation
In the post, Bautista revealed he is three weeks into his new weight training regimen. He has another two months to put the finishing touches on his body transformation.
“3rd week in to weight training again. 2 more months to get to where I need to be. Like ridin a bike! LFG!💪🏽,” shared Dave Bautista.
Fans were blown away and commented on his progress:
“Just when you thought to get rid of Drax make up, then Kratos white make up comes 😂”
“Once you’re past 50 it’s better to not carry that weight around and just be lean and strong”
“Prep up to be Kratos!!!”
“The Animal returns!!!!!”
“Muscle memory. If anyone can,it’s you. Kill it Dave”
“Big big Respekt! What a crisp shape! Savage bro! It’s so hard for a big Bude to get that much in shape After losing 100lbs. True soldier 💪🔥💪”
Bautista isn’t the only high-profile actor who’s been tasked with transforming his physique. Over the years, Australia’s Hugh Jackman has endured tough training, from plyometric movements and cardio to chain-loaded push-ups to sculpt his body for movies.
Beyond hard workouts, Dave Bautista will have to eat substantially more food if he wants a physique like Kratos. The God of War television series will appear on Amazon Prime Video with a date that’s yet to be determined.
