What a long, strange trip it’s been. The CrossFit Instagram is now back for your viewing pleasure.

Six months after CrossFit HQ shut down all their Facebook and Instagram accounts, CrossFit has brought back just one IGaccount. The new CrossFit Inc. account is simply named CrossFit Training on Instagram.

The account only has 730,000 followers and had not posted since May 14, 2019. The first new CrossFit came on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

Despite slowly coming back to Instagram, there is still no official CrossFit page on Facebook. The CrossFit Games still do not have an official Instagram or Facebook as well.

It is an interesting strategy. While most sports or leagues run to get fans closer to the action, CrossFit and the CrossFit games have cut off their nose despite their face. Facebook, but IG in particular, are just a massive way to connect with your fans.

Every major CrossFit star has a massive presence on Instagram. What better way to grow the sport and gain new fans than through social media? Just how many fans or potential new fans have CrossFit chased away by protesting Facebook and Instagram for the past six months?

CrossFit’s first Instagram post in six months came without much fanfare.

Their second post over the weekend, also did not address the elephant in the room.

While the CrossFit IG and Facebook were deactivated, the company still did keep with their Twitter and YouTube accounts.

  • CrossFit Games’ Twitter (Active): 736K
  • CrossFit’s Twitter (Active): 979K
  • CrossFit’s YouTube (Active): 1.49 million

Back in May, when the company deleted their accounts the CrossFit Games’ Instagram had 2.4 million followers while the CrossFit’s Instagram 2.8 million followers. Over on Facebook, CrossFit Games’ had 2.7 million likes while
CrossFit’s Facebook page 3.1 million likes.
