When the fitness community first learned that IFBB legend Flex Wheeler would need to have a partial right leg amputation following complications during surgery back in October, it was hard to imagine this reality for the multiple-time Mr. Olympia runner-up and Arnold Classic champion.
But if one thing is true about many champions which have experienced very challenging situations, it’s that they all have one thing in common… and that is the absolute heart and determination to not let their circumstances stop them from having an optimistic mindset.
And by the same token, we’ve seen many times that these individuals continue to pursue their passions every day even when it seems like life is very much against their endeavors.
Well, Flex Wheeler didn’t let his problem stop him from training as he was back in the gym earlier this month which is definitely good for his mental health and it also helped him to heal up a bit before he had the prosthetic leg put on.
He recently posted a photo on Instagram of him taking his first step and he expressed his gratitude for being able to begin the journey of walking again.

Along with the photo he wrote…
“SO IT BEGINS 🙏🏾
… THANK YOU JESUS 🙏🏾💪🏾🙏🏾
… My First Step 👊🏾“
We’re extremely happy for Flex Wheeler and we wish him a speedy recovery so that he can continue to pursue his life’s passions. But we’ll definitely be sure to provide updates along the way.
