Blake Lehew has always been an incredible lifter, but he really got into his best shape when he jumped to the 82.5-kilogram weight class less than two years ago. During the course of his training, Blake quickly added significant weight to all of his lifts and was able to break some records which John Haack previously held. Despite that, he has now surpassed those records even further, specifically the U82.5KG All-Time Raw W/Wraps Total World Record.

Blake Lehew set this World Record at the 2022 WRPF American Pro, which took place on July 29-30, in Manassas, VA. He totaled 930 kilograms (2,050.3 pounds) and broke the record by exactly 20 kilograms (44.1 pounds). Blake also held the previous record of 910 kilograms (2,006.2 pounds), which he set at the 2021 WRPF Kern US Open.

Blake Lehew’s recent deadlift at the competition caused a bit of controversy, as many people felt it should have been disallowed. However, Blake covered that topic on his Instagram.

“There was a bit of controversy on my final pull so I’ll briefly cover that first. After narrowly missing my first and second Micah gave the mic to the head judge so there was no question on the down command. I’ve posted two videos from different angles and you can clearly see that I was locked out and I held the bar long enough to deserve a down command. Turn the sound on and you can hear the down command as well.”
