Chris Bumstead’s sudden move to the Men’s Open class has the world talking. In a recent video shared on October 28, 2024, Chris Cormier predicted Bumstead would win the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro and defeat favorite Martin Fitzwater.
Upon winning his sixth consecutive Classic Physique Olympia title in Las Vegas, Nevada, Chris Bumstead would bid farewell to the division that turned him into a worldwide phenomenon. His emotional goodbye to bodybuilding was short-lived, however. Weeks after his successful endeavor, Bumstead shocked the world, announcing his foray into the Men’s Open division — something he’s long hinted at throughout his career.
Although the competitor lineup for the Prague Pro is still in the works, fourth-place Open Olympia finisher Martin Fitzwater will be in attendance. He and Bumstead have already sized each other up with a daunting leg day training session. The clash will make for a historic event, leading Chris Cormier to give his prediction on the final results.
Chris Cormier Expects Chris Bumstead’s ‘Best Physique’ Ever at 2024 EVLS Prague Pro, Says He’ll Beat Martin Fitzwater
Chris Cormier predicted Chris Bumstead to defeat Martin Fitzwater and emerge victorious in his first contest overseas.
“I think he’s going to win the show. Why wouldn’t he win the show?” asks Cormier. “He’s beating Martin. He’s going to look shapely. I just want to see that front lat spread with the full chest that he loses when he goes down to Classic. He loses all that.”
“He’s going to have the best frame up there. Maybe not the most muscle, but that frame is going to be pretty wide,” shared Cormier. “I just think it’s going to be probably the best physique he’s put on a stage so far.”

In addition, Cormier wants to see how Bumstead’s powerful front lat spread holds up against other Open competitors.
“Going with his best poses, a lot of shots that he’s not able to hit in the Classic division. His patented lat spread, his side triceps, which I’m sure his frame is going to carry a lot of great shape. I think he’s going to try to out-shape people. I would love to see that lat spread in the Open class.”
Judge Terrick El Guindy is eager to see Bumstead compared with the fourth-best bodybuilder in the world.
“He looks like he’s about to face some big guys and as Ron Harris has mentioned, Martin Fitzwater is the fourth-best bodybuilder in the world. He’s going to have to hit a front double biceps next to that guy.”
According to El Guindy, Bumstead plans to win gold in Prague and then ‘crush’ Samson Dauda at the 2025 Mr. Olympia.
“He said, ‘Terrick, I’m not going there to play. I’m going there to win and then I’m going to go to the Olympia and crush Samson Dauda. That’s exactly what he just told me on the phone,” says El Guindy.”
El Guindy highlighted that Akim Williams and Horse MD (Marcello De Angelis) will be competing in Prague, aiming to ‘get a piece’ of Bumstead.
“Apparently Akim Williams, he thought I should have been higher at the Olympia, I’m going to smash Chris Bumstead,” shared El Guindy. “Horse MD said I’m going to get my qualification in Prague and I’m going to put this guy back in Classic Physique. People are angry after him. They want to get a piece of Chris Bumstead.”
Shaun Clarida, Akim Williams, Martin Fitzwater, and Chris Bumstead are some of the biggest names taking part in the show. Whoever takes home the Open class title wields considerable momentum going into the next Mr. Olympia.
Chris Cormier believes Bumstead has all the tools needed to lay claim to his first victory in the Men’s Open division. Don’t miss the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro on November 16-17 in the Czech Republic; Fitness Volt will have live coverage and play-by-play updates.
