Some well known names tested positive for banned substances

Five Crossfit Athletes Fail Drug Tests

This is not a good look. Over the weekend, the CrossFit Games announced breaches in their drug testing policy.

Of the five athletes who were busted, four competed in the Master’s division. Gabor Torok, Vincent Lopez, Paul Perna, Robbie Perovich, and Marion Valkenburg receive four year bans from CrossFit.

However, everyone but Torok competes in the older divisions. Therefore, it effectively ends their competitive CrossFit careers.

Above all,12 athletes at the 2019 CrossFit Games have been busted for drugs.

Below are the details from the CrossFit Games latest announcement.

1) Gabor Torok, ranked 48th at the 2019 Games. Torok tested positive for a Stanozolol metabolite. Stanozolol is in the class of anabolic agents. In addition, the sample also tested positive for Clomiphene. Clomiphene is in the class of hormone and metabolic modulators. The test was administered on July 29, 2019. Torok is suspended for four years.

2 ) Vincent Lopez ranked 8th at the 2019 Games Lopez competed in the Masters 55-59. Lopez tested positive for exogenous testosterone. It is classified as an anabolic agent. The test was administered on Aug. 2, 2019.. Lopez is suspended for four years.

3) Paul Perna, ranked 1st at the 2019 Games. Perna competed in  Masters 60+. Perna tested positive for exogenous testosterone. This is classified as an anabolic agent. The test was administered on Aug. 4, 2019. Perna is suspended for four years.

4) Robbie Perovich, ranked 3rd at the 2019 Games. Pervovich competed in Masters 40-44.  Perovich tested positive for GW1516 sulfoxide and GW1516 sulfone, metabolites of GW1516. GW1516 is classified as a metabolic modulator. Similarly, he also tested positive for ostarine. Ostarine is classified as an anabolic agent. The test was administered on Aug. 4, 2019.. Perovich is suspended for four years.

5) Marion Valkenburg, ranked 3rd at the 2019 Games. Marion competed in Masters 55-59. Valkenvurg tested positive for Stanozolol metabolites. Stanozolol is in the class of anabolic agents. The test was administered on Aug. 4, 2019. Valkenburg is suspended for four years.

In addition, since Perna won his division he forfeits the win. Therefore, Gord Mackinnon will now take first place in Mens 60 plus.

Last month, Katie Trombetta was banned four years for doping.
