Dana White, 54, the driving force behind the mixed martial arts juggernaut Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), consistently challenges both his self-discipline and physical limits. In his latest venture, White endured an 86-hour water fast and credited the system for his shredded physique.
“It’s Gary Brecka-approved,” Dana White explains.
As the global leader in the world of mixed martial arts, Dana White deals with pressure daily, whether it’s concerning talent acquisition, finances, or putting on the most entertaining fights possible, he pulls out all the stops weekly to ensure the UFC engine runs smoothly and efficiently.
Staying in shape and boasting an impressive physique are challenging tasks, especially as we push into our fifties Last year, Dana White sought out human biologist Gary Brecka, and little did he know the interaction would change his life. Following an examination, White was told he only had ‘10.4’ years left to live.

With that in mind, White carved out time to focus on his longevity and health. Now sporting a six-pack of abs, the UFC boss has no intention of slowing down. Sharing a secret for stripping unwanted body fat, White welcomed his fans on a water-only journey.
Dana White Reflects on Water Fast’: “Doctors Have Done Studies on This and This Thing Is Legit”
Feeling like a superhero, Dana White went on to explain some of the benefits one can enjoy from water fasting:
“I just got done fasting for 86 hours. I feel like a superhero. I feel incredible. And I want to tell you how I did it. I love sharing this kind of stuff with you. So when I left the event on Saturday night, I started fasting, and here’s a picture of me Saturday night when I left. I just got done this morning. So Saturday to Wednesday and here are the pictures of me this morning.
So I don’t know if you’ve seen this online, but it’s called a seven-day water fast. Doctors have done studies on this and this thing is legit, it gives you over a 70% chance of not getting cancer, Alzheimer’s, and other nasty diseases. Basically, you drink water for 72 hours. Gary likes that better than 76, he says that’s safer,” said Dana White.
Part of White’s water fasting ‘protocol’ requires bone broth twice a day for two days, but that’s incorporated after the 24-hour mark.
“I’m going to walk you through what the protocol is in this video. So the first 24 hours all you drink is water. But you can put electrolytes in your water.”
“The first 24 hours you drink water and you can use that in your water. Then, the next day this is the cleanest broth that you can buy (Kettle and Fire). This thing only has 45 calories, less than one gram of carbs, and it has like 13 grams of protein. So all it really has is protein and 45 calories.”
“Bone broth, twice a day for the next two days.”
White stood by the practice, adding that, “you get absolutely shredded on this thing.”
“You’re going to feel incredible and obviously, you’re doing it for internal, but externally, you get absolutely shredded on this thing.”
Dana White wasn’t the only high-profile name in fitness to dip his toe in the water-only fast. Kali Muscle (Chuck Kirkendall) documented his experience and revealed he lost nine pounds after six days of pure H2O. Having suffered a heart attack in 2019, Kali Muscle continues to fight for longevity while encouraging others to steer clear of bodybuilding or risk such ailments.
While the safety of water fasting is sometimes brought into question, it’s evident the practice has its merits within the fitness and bodybuilding communities. As for Dana White, he couldn’t be happier with the results.

This was very interesting to read.. after you finish your water fasting, what should you eat when breaking your fast? How many times a week/month that you can do this?
Is it 7 days or 86 hours? That’s not the same thing but I see them used interchangeably.
