David Goggins, a retired Navy SEAL and ultra-marathon runner, is never short on motivation and always trains with a chip on his shoulder. In his latest venture, Goggins took to Instagram to discuss his non-stop working mentality and why he never takes a rest day.
“This message I do is not for fuc**ng everybody. Some will say that soft bullshit about, ‘Do you have sunscreen on? This message is dangerous. It’s too hot.’ I’m not asking you to be like me. Do you. Stay hard!” Goggins shared.

48-Yo David Goggins Explains Why He Pushes His Body So Hard: ‘I Would Rather Stand Out Than Fit In’
Regardless of the weather conditions, David Goggins never misses a run and discussed the need for more “savages” in society today.
“As you all know, it’s a hot motherfucker. Nice heat wave. Mother Nature is a pissed-off motherfucker, but guess what? So am I. So who gives a fuck. Today I was running and this guy passes me in the car and it’s about 100 degrees out here 70 percent humidity.
The guy comes back around and looks at me, he pulls his car by me and says, ‘Why the fuck are you out here?’ I said ‘Because you’re not.’ Sometimes, your motivation needs to be because no one else wants to fucking do it. We need doctors. We need fucking lawyers. We need dentists, we need teachers, we also need fucking savages.”
Given his fame and success, fans have questioned Goggins on why he won’t retire and live a life of comfort. In response, Goggins emphasized that “we are all made very differently” and doesn’t shy away from his true self.
“I get it all the time. Why? Why do you run in the heat? the cold? Why don’t you take days off? Why are you smokejumping at 48 when you have enough money to retire? Why don’t you just relax?
Understand this- you will never hear me asking a person why they are doing something.
The people who are always looking for more just get it. They understand. There’s no need for questions.
If you are someone asking the “why” questions, you might want to check in with yourself and ask yourself “why am I not driven to do more?”
It’s the very people who ask why who also ask “what’s next for you?” They know I’m on a hunt!
The hunt doesn’t end once I kill the bear. After I kill the bear, I realize that there are more bears in the area, so instead of going home, I continue to hunt!!!
We are all made very differently. Some people aren’t afraid to be who they are even if that means being a loner. While fitting in feels good, I would rather stand out than fit in!
Remeber: I’M NOT CRAZY, I’M JUST NOT YOU!
Stay hard!” David Goggins wrote.
Goggins’ efforts continue to inspire and motivate the fitness community. Influencers Jesse James West and Brandon William recently teamed up to train like Goggins for 24 hours. West explained that the workout routine they implemented was the same one used by Goggins when he dropped 100 pounds in three months to first become a Navy SEAL.
Serving as an inspiration to the masses, David Goggins’ determination and relentless work ethic have largely defined his legacy. Approaching 49 years of age, it appears Goggins has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
