The 2024 New York Pro is considered the third most prestigious bodybuilding event on the IFBB Pro calendar, prompting veterans of the sport to discuss its frontrunners. In a recent YouTube video, Dennis James, Milos Sarcev, and Chris Cormier offered their top five predictions for the nearing event on May 18.

From the moment Nick Walker announced his 2024 New York Pro participation, fans have been talking about his potential comeback. He suffered a severe hamstring and calf injury days before having the shot to prove himself atop the 2023 Mr. Olympia stage.

Initially, Walker planned to hold out for a special invite, but once that was off the table, he set his sights on the upcoming New York Pro. But it won’t just be the Nick Walker show, as plenty of top-tier contenders are headed to The Empire State, including Quinton Eriya, Martin Fitzwater, Stuart Sutherland, and defending 2023 New York Pro champion Tonio Burton. With a stacked lineup on tap for fans, some of your favorite bodybuilding veterans revealed their picks for the Open class.

Dennis James, Milos Sarcev, and Chris Cormier Offer Top 5 Picks for 2024 New York Pro on May 18

Check out their predictions below:

Chris Cormier’s Predictions for 2024 New York Pro Top 5

  • Winner — Nick Walker
  • Second Place — Quinton Eriya
  • Third Place — Tonio Burton
  • Fourth Place — Stuart Sutherland
  • Fifth Place —  Martin Fitzwater

“That’s probably going to be it,” says Chris Cormier.

Milos Sarcev’s Predictions for 2024 New York Pro Top 5

  • Winner — Nick Walker
  • Second Place — Martin Fitzwater
  • Third Place — Stuart Sutherland
  • Fourth Place — Tonio Burton
  • Fifth Place — Quinton Eriya

According to Sarcev, Quinton Eriya’s size and structure won’t compare effectively against shorter more compact bodybuilders like Nick Walker and Martin Fitzwater.

“I’m a huge fan of shape and I like Quinton. He would be my ideal guy. This is what I would want but there’s no way that’s going to happen. Nick is going to set the standard.

He is going to clean the house. Quinton is too tall and like Andrew at the Arnold Classic so he is going to be too lengthy to compare. The two guys that are going to squeak in front of Quinton is Martin and Stuart Sutherland. Fourth and fifth are the shape guys, Tonio and Quinton.”

Dennis James’ Predictions for 2024 New York Pro Top 5

  • Winner — Nick Walker
  • Second Place — Quinton Eriya
  • Third Place — Tonio Burton
  • Fourth Place — Martin Fitzwater
  • Fifth Place — Stuart Sutherland

“I’m going to stick with Quinton in second,” said Dennis James.

Nick Walker was unanimously chosen to walk away as champion at the 2024 New York Pro. In addition to his promise in New York, other top-tier bodybuilding talents aren’t dismissing him at the Olympia even though he has yet to earn his qualification. Of late, bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler said Nick Walker could ‘possibly’ defeat Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan on the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage.

Those who witnessed the annual Pittsburgh Pro guest posing event got to see a teaser of what could happen on the grand stage in October. Fans have been buzzing around Nick Walker’s physique and the improvements of Derek Lunsford, as both men displayed eye-catching looks while guest posing in Pittsburgh over the weekend.

Fans and bodybuilders are excited to see how the 2024 New York Pro will unfold, including James, Cormier, and Sarcev. Don’t miss full coverage of the New York Pro on May 18 right here at Fitness Volt!
