Eddie Hall has frequently and publicly criticized Hafthor Bjornsson’s approach to the deadlift record, insisting his own half-ton lift remained the official benchmark. However, Bjornsson recently shattered that mark with a 505-kilogram (1,113-pound) deadlift, setting a new world record. This achievement prompted Hall to take to Instagram and share his reaction.
Hafthor Bjornsson took part in the 2025 Eisenhart Black Competition on July 26th in Germany. There he built up to his heaviest deadlift attempt of 505 kilograms (1,113.3 pounds). It went up smoothly, thus giving Hafthor a new World Record and one of the most iconic moments in the history of strength sports.
It did not take long for Eddie Hall to give his thoughts on the attempt. Contrary to the situation in the past few years, Eddie now fully acknowledged Hafthor’s achievements and sent his congratulations.
“Massive respect to Thor for making history & setting the official WR at 505kg 🙏 That’s one hell of a pull 💪 Records are made to be broken.
Big respect, Big Love”

Eddie Hall had a few words to say to Hafthor Bjornsson in the lead-up to his World Record attempt. Even then, Eddie had nothing but nice words to say, praising Hafthor for all that he has done in the sport. So, he made it clear that he was ready to end the feud.
Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson’s rivalry grew to be the most iconic in the history of Strongman, largely due to disputes over the Deadlift World Record. Hall was the first person to ever pull half a ton, but Hafthor clipped the record with a 501-kilogram (1,104.5-pound) pull. However, he performed it in his own gym under the sanction of WUS due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hall utilized that fact to invalidate the lift.
After months of disagreements between the two, Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson arranged a boxing match. Hafthor took the win with all judges scoring the fight in his favor. Their feud continued since then, but with Hall’s recent posts, it seems like they finally buried the hatchet. However, it still remains to be seen how Hafthor will react to Eddie’s recent posts.
Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson are both considered to be among the greatest Strongman athletes in history. Each won the World’s Strongest Man competition, while they are also the only two men to officially deadlift 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) or more. So, it is great to see them show respect to each other and hopefully get even closer as time passes.
