Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson have had arguably the biggest rivalry ever seen in the sport of Strongman, even continuing their feud long after retiring from the sport. It mostly revolved around disagreements about the Deadlift World Record, but Eddie’s recent Instagram post might indicate that the enmity between the two is over. As Hafthor is preparing for another Deadlift World Record attempt, Eddie turned to social media to express his support.
Hafthor Bjornsson came out of his Strongman retirement in 2024, and it did not take him long to start pursuing the Deadlift World Record once again. So, he accepted the invite for the 2025 Eisenhart Black Competition on July 26th in Bavaria, Germany, where he is set to go for a 505-kilogram (1,113.3-pound) deadlift.
With all eyes on Hafthor Bjornsson, Eddie Hall also decided to chime in, as his name, along with his clash against the Icelandic strongman, has been mentioned in the lead-up to the attempt. However, while many probably expected a hostile approach from Eddie, he had nothing but positive words for Hafthor.
“Massive good luck to Thor this weekend as he goes for the 505kg deadlift. 💪
I truly hope he nails it — it would be an incredible achievement and something the whole strength world would celebrate.
There’s been some bad things said from Thor’s side about me this week, but I just want to put all that aside and say this:

Thor is one of the greatest strength athletes of all time. His contributions to the sport — from winning World’s Strongest Man to setting records — have inspired millions, myself included. I genuinely wish him nothing but success and happiness in this next chapter.
I’m proud to have lifted 500kg back in 2016 and helped show that the “impossible” might just be possible.”

Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson’s disagreements began around eight years ago, as the two men were involved in a controversial case at the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition. Eddie ended up taking the overall win, but Hafthor had his own opinions about the events and the standard of judging.
Fast forward to 2020, Hafthor Bjornsson set a goal of setting a new Deadlift World Record. In order to do so, he had to beat the 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) mark set by Eddie Hall in 2016. However, because of the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, Hafthor was forced to make the attempt in his own gym, but it was still sanctioned by World’s Ultimate Strongman (WUS) federation with a judge present. Hafthor managed to lift 501 kilograms (1,104.5 pounds) for a new World Record. On the other hand, Eddie never acknowledged the record as official because of the aforementioned circumstances.
With both men calling each other out for a long period of time, they decided to settle their feud in a boxing match. After months of preparation, cutting weight, and even more insults, Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson put on their boxing gloves in one of the heaviest fights in history. The match went the full distance, with all the judges scoring it in favor of Hafthor Bjornsson. It is difficult to say that the fight squashed the beef, as both men continued calling each other out. However, if Hafthor does manage to set the 505-kilogram (1,113.3-pound) record, it seems that Eddie is ready to fully accept it.

Hafthor Bjornsson missed out on multiple high-profile competitions this season in order to fully dedicate himself to the Deadlift World Record attempt. He still faced setbacks in his preparation, getting sick at one point and failing a lift that he was supposed to achieve. Luckily, he managed to bounce back and get back to his best.
