Congratulations To The Podium Winners Giants Live

Saturday, August 14th we witnessed once again what the strongest of the strong are capable of doing. They put on an amazing show all while testing the limits of what the human body is capable of doing. The competitors had 5 events in front of them, with the famous 505kg deadlift challenge being the first one. The rest of the events were as follows; carry and drag, viking press. hammer hold, and the atlas stones(renamed as the “castle stones” ). As far as the competition goes, it was a mix of some not that famous names and some already established names. In no particular order the competitors were; Gabriel Pena, Pavlo Nakonechnyy, Ivan Makarov, Oleksii Novikov, Andy Black, Rauno Heinla, Evan Singleton, Adam Bishop, Gavin Bilton, Mikhail Shivliyakov and Nedzim Ambeskovic (deadlift only).

This year’s overall winner was the American-made-Evan “T-rex” Singleton, followed by Adam Bishop in second place and last year’s WSM Oleksii Novikov coming in third. The top 3 spots guarantee these modern-day titans a direct qualifier spot for the 2022 World’s Strongest Man, which both SIngleton and Novikov already secured by finishing first and second at the Strongman Classic. However, since Adam Bishop did not quality at the Strongman Classic, the second-place finish came in really handy as now he has earned a spot at the next year’s World’s Strongest Man contest. The rest of the top 10 are below;

1. Evan Singleton — 43 points
2. Adam Bishop — 40.5 points
3. Oleksii Novikov— 39.5 points
4. Pavlo Nakonechnyy — 29.5 points
5. Gabriela Peña — 26 points
6. Gavin Bilton— 21.5 points
7. Andy Black— 20 points
8. Rauno Heinla — 19 points
9. Mikhail Shivlyakov— 18.5 points
10. Ivan Makarov — 17.5 points

Since Giants Live hosts this event under a paywall, the footage is scarce and only basic information is available. However, they did bless us cheap folks with some clips from the deadlift.

Max Deadlift

I covered the deadlift record attempt in detail in a separate article, here, but a summary would go something like this;

Eddie and Thor are still the only two humans to deadlift 500kg and above. However, their super-exclusive deadlift club will soon be adding one or two more members. Despite the world record staying intact, the event had a 6-way tie at the 1000lbs/453kg mark, the winner went as high as 475kg and the and two guys that are strong candidates for breaking Eddie’s and/or Thor’s record didn’t even compete.

1. Ivan Makarov, 475 kgs
