Daboul says the ordeal has left him physically injured and mentally broken:
“I have been competing at the IFBB Pro League for 9 straight years competed in over 20 different countries and never had an issue with any show I competed or watched. I have always been and will always support the IFBB Pro League. When I criticize a small show because I want the sport to get better nothing else.”
“Today I felt so embarrassed and I felt really in pain. I’m not talking about the physical pain because I can take much more than that but to get beaten in front of people and my partner is a hard feeling to explain. I honestly wished for that moment to be dead and not have to look at anyone in the eyes. I will reply to everyone when I get the chance. Still in the hospital,” wrote Michael Daboul.
In a previous statement, Daboul revealed how the assault unfolded:
“I’m okay guys couple of broken ribs, partially broken nose and I still waiting for the assessment of my left eye.. I got beaten by four guys at 2brospro show. When the show was done (completely done) I asked one of the security to let me into the backstage to tell my partner where I am at.
The security told me I can go in as the show is done. And when I was inside I was carried out by 4 security guys who jumped me from no where and punched me several times. Police arrested 2 of them and still looking for others. They have took many statements of people who were there and they watched the CCTV cameras as well. I’m gonna press charges.”
The 2brospro_events Instagram account released a statement on the incident involving Michael Daboul. They suggested that Daboul was attempting to enter a restricted zone and that security acted in the interest of 2Bros safety policies.
“The team at 2 bros would like to address an incident that took place outside our most recent show.
A male athlete was ejected from the venue whilst attempting to access restricted areas where females were dressing and tanning and was refused entrance in accordance with 2bros safety policies.
Throughout the day, said individual, was being very aggressive towards security staff who were just performing their duties. Several attempts were made by this individual to access restricted areas without being in possession of the correct passes or credentials.
This is NOT the first time this individual has acted in this manner at one of our events, and was spoken to after fighting with a spectator and abusing a young female member of staff during a previous event.
There are strict policies in place to comply with female athlete safety and there are clear policies in place regarding spectators and back stage areas. 2bros have always taken an “athletes safety first” approach and will continue to do so.
All venue security staff are SIA licensed professionals and have strict instructions to prevent non-paying spectators attending our events and to prevent unauthorised persons accessing official areas during classes.
2bros will not be commmenting any further until the police investigations are complete.” the statement read.
After 2 Bros Pro defended their security measures, Daboul announced that he would pursue legal action with the help of a lawyer.
“Given the new statement of 2bros, it is clear the best scenario is to proceed legally considering they are now lying on the incident, regardless of the comments, cameras and witnesses, and in addition to that, accusing me of being some predator just to save face of what they did.”
“I will no longer be discussing this issue as I will have my lawyer take care of it moving forward. Only remark I have is this that disgrace will be brought to justice,” said Michael Daboul.
Many fans and commenters on social media have insinuated that the 2 Bro Pro event and their security handled the situation improperly. As a professional bodybuilder, Daboul makes a living based on his body’s health, condition, and performance, which are all jeopardized now for the 2024 season. Fortunately, Daboul has already qualified for the 2024 Mr. Olympia thanks to his victory at the 2023 Musclecontest Austria Pro event last December.
With a police investigation underway, this story is developing as Daboul plans to take legal action. We at Fitness Volt wish him a speedy recovery. The IFBB Pro League has made a statement on the matter, reaffirming their commitment to athlete safety at all of their sanctioned contests.
“While we await for details from the local authorities about the incident that occurred with the venue security at a UK event, we want to reassure our competitors and attendees that no one should feel unsafe at any of our events,” the IFBB Pro League press release read.
