Bodybuilder Michal ‘Krizo’ Križánek has ambitious goals for the 2025 bodybuilding season after sitting out most of this year due to injury. In a recent YouTube video on November 8, 2024, Krizo revealed his contest plans, discussed his shoulder recovery process, and Chris Bumstead’s chances at the EVLS Prague Pro from November 16-17.
In June 2024, Michal Križánek announced an end to his Olympia campaign after sustaining a shoulder injury that required surgery. This decision came following an impressive third-place finish at the 2024 Empro Classic Pro, where he trailed behind Behrooz Tabani and winner, former two-time Arnold Classic champion, William Bonac.
A lot has changed since Krizo stood on stage. Samson Dauda became the new Mr. Olympia champion, defeating frontrunners Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford in a shocking upset. In addition, Chris Bumstead announced his highly anticipated move into the Men’s Open division after earning a sixth consecutive Classic Physique Olympia title.

While his training is still limited, Krizo shared that he’s retained his size, revealing a current weight of 299.83 pounds.

“I weigh 136 kilograms fasted,” says Krizo. “The shoulder is almost healed. Last check-up in two weeks, where I should be told that I can go all-in. And then just slowly going harder, increasing the weights.”
“It’s [my shoulder] not 100 percent, no. It will be 100 percent once I can properly train it. And even then, when I am allowed, which will be in two weeks from now, Even then, it will take a while until I am back to the weights I used to lift. But I think it would be alright around New Year time. It should be okay then.”
According to the Slovakian bodybuilder, he expects Chris Bumstead to make the top five at the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro, adding that he’s not the favorite and ‘he won’t win.’
“At least he [Chris Bumstead] finds out what Open Bodybuilding is all about… that it’s not a joke,” shares Krizo. “They asked what placing I am expecting for him, I said: top five.
Maybe he doesn’t even make the top three. I think there’s Brandao, Martin, Clarida competing. We’ll see. I can’t say… he would be the favorite to win. He won’t win. And if he does — it’s a fuck up.”
Krizo has targeted a May or June return, setting his sights on a possible appearance at the 2025 New York Pro.
“Arnold Classic probably no since my new coach said it would be too soon and the injury I suffered, the rejuvenation process was supposed to take half as long. So, we talked about something around New York Pro. Around May or June. So that’s New York Pro and the competitions around that date. That’s how it looks.”
“America, yes,” adds Krizo. We’ll see but America for sure.”
‘Cbum’s’ foray into the Men’s Open has everyone talking about his chances, including head judge Steve Weinberger. ‘Big Steve’ predicts Bumstead to do very well in Prague, but specifies that even if he does emerge victorious, it won’t affect the trajectory of the Men’s Open division.
Krizo continues to march toward a comeback in 2025, carefully training around his shoulder injury. With new faces in the Men’s Open, he’ll have a challenge on his hands next season when he attempts to earn his Olympia qualification.
