Nick Walker is inching closer to a sensational comeback, eager to make a statement following his unexpected withdrawal from last year’s Mr. Olympia. In a recent YouTube video, Nick Walker smashed an intense back workout five weeks before the 2024 New York Pro.
“It’s just tunnel vision and making these workouts count.”
Nick Walker has made a name for himself in the Men’s Open division with jaw-dropping freak factor and sheer determination. With impressive feats, including wins at the 2021 New York Pro and Arnold Classic, it is no surprise that fans were eager to see him dominate at the highest level. He placed as high as third on the prestigious Olympia stage in 2022. While he took runner-up to Samson Dauda at the 2023 Arnold Classic, he was still considered a massive frontrunner for the Mr. Olympia stage.
Nick Walker Crushes Back Training Session 5 Weeks Before 2024 New York Pro
Unfortunately, bodybuilding fans were left shocked and devastated when Nick Walker was forced to pull out of the marquee competition due to a hamstring and calf tear. Walker has spent the last several months recovering and recently announced that he will be participating in the 2024 New York Pro, looking to take home another victory as well as earn his qualification for this year’s Mr. Olympia.
Nothing is stopping Nick Walker as he gets closer to taking the stage. In a recent YouTube video, Walker showed off his grueling back workout five weeks before the 2024 New York Pro. Additionally, he discussed how he has approached training for the current season.
“I’m a big advocate of the Dorian Yates-style approach but we’re going to ease off of that in terms of training to failure. Not necessarily going to failure on sets but I may add a set or two on exercises to create a volume approach. To me, that works.”

Before ending his workout, Walker decided to squeeze in some hamstring curls, continuing to strengthen his leg following last year’s disastrous injury. He added that his weight is going down and he is getting leaner by the day.
“That is back, rear delt, a little bit of hamstring workout. I’m under five weeks out. Yeah. There’s not really much to say.”
The weight is going down now. Things are starting to get really tight in terms of my body fat. It’s getting tight. Everything is getting tighter now. I can definitely tell we are getting leaner. Sleep is starting to not be as hot.”
With his eyes on a second New York Pro title, Walker gave his thoughts on his latest training session:
“That’s part of the process. We are hitting that four-week mark. This is grind time. This is the final stage. This is the four-week out mark. This is where we separate the men from the boys, the lion from the sheep. We all know I always prevail from setbacks. I expect nothing less but to have another ring around my neck,” Walker shared.
Even though Walker has yet to qualify for the 2024 Mr. Olympia, bodybuilding veterans have backed him as a notable threat heading into the major event. Recently, bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler opened up on Walker’s potential, suggesting that he could ‘possibly’ win the 2024 Mr. Olympia title when he squares off against champion Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan.
The 2024 New York Pro is on May 18; when the show is over, fans will have a clearer idea of where Walker stands as far as the Olympia is concerned. In the meantime, ‘The Mutant’ continues to train intensely in hopes of making an unforgettable return to the stage.
