After placing ninth at this year’s Mr. Olympia, Regan Grimes is as motivated as ever heading into the 2024 season. In a recent YouTube video, Regan Grimes shared his goals for this year, which include competing at the New York Pro show and adding more size to his frame.
Regan Grimes has been making impressive strides in the bodybuilding scene, continually reaching new heights thanks to an aesthetic yet balanced structure. Initially establishing himself as a formidable contender in the Classic Physique division, Grimes strategically pivoted to the Men’s Open category, a calculated move that has undeniably propelled his career to the next level.
Since coming to the Open, Grimes has gone up against bodybuilders with bigger mass and still dominated while on stage. In 2022, Grimes took back to back seventh seventh-place finishes at the Arnold Classic and the Boston Pro. He planned to compete at the 2022 Mr. Olympia but ultimately pulled out in favor of adding more muscle.
Regan Grimes returned to the Flex Weekend Pro stage in 2023 looking better than ever. Though Grimes came in second to Nathan De Asha, he quickly avenged his loss at the Europa Pro Championship and earned his ticket to the 2023 Mr. Olympia.

While on bodybuilding’s biggest stage, Grimes brought a combination of aesthetics and shape that helped him stand out among his competitors. Grimes would ultimately place in the top ten at ninth place moving up six spots since his last time on the Olympia stage in 2021 where he placed 15th.
Regan Grimes Prepares To Dominate At The 2024 New York Pro
Now, Grimes is already thinking about what’s next and has his sights set on the 2024 New York Pro. As the third most prestigious show behind the Arnold and the Olympia, should Regan Grimes come out on top, he’ll wield considerable momentum heading into the biggest show of the year.
During a recent interview with Brian Shaw on YouTube, Grimes announced that his next show will be the New York Pro in May.
“Yes. Exactly. The next competition is going to be the New York Pro May 18th.”
“New York Pro. That’s it.”
In addition to confirming his plans for competing, Grimes discussed some of the goals he had in mind for improving his physique.
“Definitely. Yeah. We were about 259, 260 at the Olympia. If I was 265 but even just a little sharper… that’s my goal. So another five pounds, I think it’s five pounds in that time period, it’s shooting for the moon but I think you know, we can do that,” says Grimes.
“You got to win [to qualify for Olympia]. Before, they had it where you could get second and you could go do the next show that’s in line, you get second, and maybe if you have enough points to qualify for the Olympia but now it’s you got to win a Pro show then you can go.”
Grimes is gearing up for the New York Pro, ready to conquer the competition and clinch the victory. Amidst preparations, he couldn’t help but share his excitement about the prospect of competing in his hometown, Toronto, Canada. Imagining the thrill of having his family cheering him on adds an extra layer of motivation to his pursuit of success.
“I gotta win that one [New York Pro 2024]. No idea [who will be competing]. I’ve heard some names but not too many yet. I’m sure they’ll roll out as time comes. Then of course, there’s another thing, there’s New York and like two weeks later there’s the Toronto Pro, two or three weeks later.
I don’t like to think like that, I don’t even like to think about it, but at home, the Toronto Pro, it would be cool to do it. Back at home base, I haven’t competed at home since 2014. So to have all the family and friends and everyone out there.”
There is no telling what Regan Grimes will be able to achieve in his bodybuilding career. His hard work and dedication inside and out of the gym have seen him improve every time he steps on stage. Grimes has the potential to take out some of the biggest names in the Open including mass monster Nick Walker who was absent at this year’s Olympia due to a hamstring tear.
Fans look forward to Regan Grimes’ next show as he aims to acquire more muscle mass before competing in May. If his 2024 season is anything like last year, Grimes will be a major contender for Men’s Open competitors no matter what stage he sets foot on.
