Samson Duada is making rapid progress towards his goal to become the Mr. Olympia. Dauda recently partnered with rising fitness influencer Sam Sulek for an intense chest and calves training session. It was a part of his 2023 Olympia prep and helped him push beyond his true potential.

IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Samson Dauda emerged as the true dark horse in the 2022 competitive season. The Men’s Open competitor secured the ticket to the 2022 Olympia with a win at the 2021 EVLS Prague Pro and surged into the top four at the 2022 Arnold Classic as well.

In his 2022 Olympia debut, Dauda shocked the bodybuilding community when he dominated the stage en route to the sixth place finish. Remarkably, ‘The Nigerian Lion’ gave former two-time Mr. Olympia Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay everything he could handle on stage.

Dauda returned to competition at the 2023 Arnold Classic, which was the first major Pro show of the year. He tested himself against elite competitors, passing with flying colors. Dauda won the 2023 Arnold Classic and punched his ticket to the 2023 Olympia.

He now trains to dethrone Hadi Choopan and take home the Mr. Olympia title on Nov. 5. To fuel his competition prep and make progress towards the ultimate goal, Samson Dauda teamed up with fitness influencer Sam Sulek for a chest and calves workout.

Sulek rose to prominence in the online fitness community for building a massive 240 lbs physique at a mere 21 years of age. His sub-optimal dietary practices and unusually high muscle mass for his age has been a cause of concern as many experts have suspected him for using PEDs. However, he continues to grow and add more facets to his hulking physique.

Samson Dauda and Sam Sulek go through a chest and calves workout

Samson Dauda joined Sam Sulek at the Iron Factory gym in Pittsburgh to train chest and calves. The purpose of this training session was to figure out if the duo could get along for joint training sessions in future. However, Dauda’s training was a priority as he prepares for the 2023 Olympia that will take place from Nov. 3-5 in Orlando, Florida.

So let’s check out how the duo trained their chest and try to see if their chemistry matched for future training sessions.

Superset – Angled Calf Raises And Seated Calf Raises

Samson Dauda and Sam Sulek finished up the calf work in the very beginning of the workout. They performed angled calf raises on a Precor Icarian selectorized machine and superset it with seated calf raises. After performing all the sets within this superset in rapid progression and minimal rest periods, the training partners switched to working the chest.

Smith Machine Incline Bench Press

Incline pressing movements emhasize the upper pecs / clavicular head of the pectoral muscles which is usually difficult to bring up. Dauda and Sulek took to the Smith machine and performed an incline bench press to stimulate this part of the pectoral muscles.

Another benefit of using machines is that the weight moves along a fixed trajectory which eliminates the need to control them. This helps focus on the target muscle group without having to involve the stabilizers and also reduces the chances of injury.

Since Samson Dauda is in the middle of his 2023 Olympia prep, it was in best interest to use a Smith machine instead of a regular barbell.

Machine Incline Chest Press

The training partners then moved on to another variation of incline pressing movement. They performed incline chest press on an iso-lateral machine to add more stimulus to the pecs.

Pec Deck Flyes

After working the pushing strength with pressing movements, Samson Dauda and Sam Sulek performed pec deck flyes to work the adduction strength of the upper body. They executed a few good sets of the isolation movement before taking up the final exercise of the day.

Close Hammer Grip Dumbbell Press

Dauda and Sulek wrapped up the training session with a few good sets of close hammer grip dumbbell presses. This chest press version is great for adding variety to the chest training routine. Additionally, it is far less stressful on the shoulders.

To get a good stimulus with relatively less weight, close hammer grip dumbbell press is a great option. Dauda and Sulek pushed through a few solid sets of the exercise to conclude the training session.

Overall, following exercises composed the chest workout:

Samson Dauda and Sam Sulek are both on completely different career trajectories at the moment. But if they stay the course and continue to work hard, both men can achieve greater heights.
