SBD ApparelSonita Muluh is easily the strongest female powerlifter in the world but especially excels in the squat. She made this clear once again at the 2026 SBD Sheffield Powerlifting Championships on January 31st in England. Specifically, Sonita locked out a massive 318.5-kilogram (702.2-pound) Raw Squat and set a new IPF World Record in the +84-kilogram weight class. Moreover, Sonita also broke the Raw Total IPF World Record.

Sonita Muluh is one of only a handful of female raw powerlifters who have squatted 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds) or more, but at this point, this has become a routine lift for her. So, she opened up with a very quick and smooth 300-kilogram (661.4-pound) squat.

Sonita Muluh immediately shifted her focus to the World Record on her second attempt. So, she loaded 318.5 kilograms (702.2 pounds) on the bar and performed the squat with nothing except for a lifting belt and a pair of knee sleeves. Sonita’s squat was first deemed unsuccessful, but that decision was later overturned by a jury of international judges. As such, her squat marked a new IPF World Record.

For her final attempt, Sonita Muluh decided to go for a 326-kilogram (718.7-pound) squat. While that would have been a truly historic achievement, Sonita was not successful in completing the lift.

Sonita Muluh’s Full Performance Breakdown

Sonita Muluh’s miss on her final squat attempt turned out to be her only unsuccessful lift at the entire competition. She was impeccable on the bench press and deadlift, which allowed her to exceed the Total World Record by 13.5 kilograms (29.8 pounds). As a result, Sonita placed fourth overall in the women’s division, finishing only behind Tiffany Chapon, Alba Bostrom, and Sara Naldi.
