It is rare to see someone as dominant at such a young age as Sonja Stefanie Krüger, considering that this elite powerlifter is just 22-years-old. She has already won World and European championships, but she is still hungry for more. So, Sonja decided to compete at the 2022 IPF World Equipped Open Powerlifting Championships, which are taking place from November 14-20, in Viborg, Denmark. Apart from dominating the 76-kilogram weight class, Sonja also set a new IPF Equipped Squat World Record of 280.5 kilograms (618.4 pounds) at this contest.

Representing Germany in the best way possible, Sonja Stefanie Krüger opened her squat performance with a 265-kilogram (584.2-pound) lift. She then loaded 280.5 kilograms (618.4 pounds) for her second attempt, but was unsuccessful. However, Sonja crushed the same weight on the third attempt and broke the World Record.

Sonja Stefanie Krüger also previously held the U76KG IPF Equipped Squat World Record of 280 kilograms (617.3 pounds), which she set at the 2022 IPF World Games just four months ago.
