Having endured injuries after an illustrious wrestling career, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson remains locked into health and wellness at 51. As one of the fittest men in Hollywood, The Rock is celebrated for his relentless pursuit of a better physique, especially in the odd hours of the night. In a recent Instagram post, he tested his lower body strength inside the gym with a raised Bulgarian split squat variation, which he’s using to enhance his ankle and knee mobility.

The Rock quickly used his wrestling career as a platform to become one of the most popular and successful actors in America. Through countless movie projects, Johnson established himself as a household name, who has taken part in major productions like the Marvel-backed hit Black Adam

Aside from his demanding entertainment schedule, The Rock is known for sharing his workout secrets with fans. Regardless of the time of day, The Rock pushes his body to its max and showed as much with a recent chest and back training session. During the workout, he prioritized the pump by focusing on volume and moderate weight.

Johnson continues to train hard into his fifties and doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Whether it’s a ‘monster set’ themed leg workout or preacher curls for jacked arms, The Rock makes it a point not to miss any training sessions.

Having suffered from multiple knee surgeries, a torn Achilles, and a torn quad, The Rock’s latest workout demonstration emphasizes mobility. Johnson is also trying to work on his mind-muscle connection to make the most of each contraction.

The Rock ‘Battling Injuries’ w/ Raised Bulgarian Split Squat for Mobility, “Always Trying to Improve”

The Rock performed two sets of raised Bulgarian splits squats, an ideal exercise for balance, as well as glutes, hamstrings, and quad activation.

“Working on ankle & knee mobility with this raised Bulgarian split squat movement.
Years of battling injuries
(torn Achilles, multiple knee surgeries, torn quad off my pelvis etc) forced me to train just as intense, but smarter & wiser 👈🏾 I hope🤞🏾🤣
Mind muscle connection is real.
Always trying to improve, work in progress..” Dwayne Johnson shared

Aside from training, The Rock is also known for showing off his epic cheat meals, a practice that’s become customary on leg day for the superstar. Some of his more memorable cheat meals included burgers from the In-N-Out fast food chain and his unique ‘power-packed breakfast’ which featured steak, eggs, oatmeal, and five peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

The Bulgarian split squat is a versatile exercise that can be done anywhere. Instead of a weight bench, you can use your couch, a stool, or any sturdy surface. Starting with the bodyweight version, as demonstrated by Johnson, is recommended for beginners. As you progress and can perform sets of five to eight reps with proper form, you can introduce weights to enhance your strength and muscle development.
