Tia-Clair Toomey, a six-time CrossFit Games champion, announced that she is pregnant a few months back, which means that she will not be able to compete in the 2023 CrossFit Games. However, despite the limitations that come with pregnancy, the All-Time Winningest CrossFit Individual, Tia has remained committed to her training regimen. In a recent video posted to her YouTube channel, Tia-Clair can be seen working out with her coach and husband, Shane Orr.

The workout, while not as intense as her usual training regimen, still made the Tia-Clair sweat and expend some excess energy. In addition, some research shows that training while pregnant can be beneficial, as it improves the mother’s mood and energy levels, promotes better sleep, and much more. So, Tia-Clair is having fun while it is also very useful for her situation.

Tia-Clair Toomey’s Pregnancy Workout

Tia-Clair Toomey is in the second trimester of her pregnancy and her so-called baby bump is very noticeable. So, after warming up with some belt squats, Tia-Clair opted to perform four rounds, each in a 6-minute time frame of:

  • 24-calorie Echo Bike
  • 10 Shoulder-To-Overhead
  • 16-calorie Echo Bike
  • 10 Shoulder-To-Overhead
  • 8-calorie Echo Bike

Apart from that, the video footage also showed Tia-Clair Toomey performing some Hang Cleans as well as intervals on the Row machine. She then revealed that she was drained of energy in the first trimester, but that she is feeling very good now. That was also the reason why she didn’t train as much in the beginning stages.

“Before I knew I was pregnant, I was really really tired, but every time I looked at food, even though I was hungry, I couldn’t eat it… The only thing that I really felt like I was really enjoying were scrambled eggs.”

Tia-Clair Toomey also revealed that the pregnancy is going well, since the doctor explained that the baby’s size and other parameters look as they should.

“The baby is doing very well. I checked in with the doctor and he was very very happy with the heartbeat and the size… I have literally been loving this entire process.”

Before starting the workout, Tia-Clair Toomey also stated that she might take off her shirt if it starts to get hot, to which her husband, Shane Orr, commented.

“My shirt is staying on. I’m still self-conscious even with Tia’s pregnant belly. She still has more abs showing than I do,” said Shane.

To wrap up the video, Toomey gave an insight into her past few months and outlined the rationale behind some of her decisions.

“I haven’t done a whole lot of training because I’ve actually been trying to have a really nice break and offseason, and take advantage of being over in Australia with my friend and family… I was very active, not in the gym, but outside of the gym.”
