When Eric Roza took over the mantle of being the owner of CrossFit, he promised some big changes. It seems that a major change has come in the form of a record high payout for the 2021 CrossFit Games.

This year’s season of the CrossFit Games has brought with it some serious changes to the way the action takes place. It involves a largely virtual format, with many layers of qualifying rounds, in order to lead to the Finals.

With the Semifinals currently underway, we are beginning to get a picture of who will compete in-person, in Wisconsin next month. Along with that comes some questions as to what athletes can expect out of this massive event.

We now have a bit more information, as the prize money was revealed for the 2021 CrossFit Games Finals. A press release from CrossFit HQ has announced the prize structure, which will award a record-setting $2.5 million between all of the various divisions.

Below is a breakdown of the prize money for this year’s contest.

Road To The Finals

The 2021 CrossFit Games Finals goes down July27th-August 1st, in Madison, Wisconsin. This year will see the top 40 men, 40 women, and 40 teams from the Semifinals, move on to the in-person finale of the CrossFit season.

The road began with the Open, which took place virtually, before going on to the Quarterfinals, also taking place virtually. Now we are in that last step of the Finals qualification process: the Semifinals.

The CrossFit Games Semifinals has a mix of virtual and in-person formats, and will narrow down the last bit of athletes who will advance to the Finals. The first week of that already took place, with the Torian Pro and Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge.

The Semifinals conclude on June 20th, with the top 38 in each of the aforementioned categories having been determined. The final two athletes and teams are decided through a Last Chance Qualifier which happens July 2nd-4th.

From there, the Fittest on Earth will be determined at the 2021 CrossFit Games Finals. If you were not already excited to see this action, knowing this crazy amount of prize money will surely add to your anticipation.
