The 2022 Rogue Invitational just finished in Austin, Texas, from October 27-30, with ten workouts spread over four days. Coming down to the wire, Justin Medeiros managed to defend his title and become a 2x Rogue Invitational champion. Up until the last event, every podium finish was up for grabs, but Chandler Smith went home with a silver medal and Jeffrey Adler grinded out a third-place finish.

Due to Tia-Clair Toomey’s absence from the Rogue Invitational, the title in the women’s division was up for grabs. Laura also got four event victories in a row, which is an incredible achievement. Annie Thorisdottir placed second, which is identical to what she got last year. The 17-year-old Emma Lawson got a mind-blowing bronze medal at this year’s Rogue Invitational.

Though he started at the back of the field, Justin Medeiros tactically outsmarted his rivals and pulled through in the middle of the workout and made it a commanding lead by the end. His time of 11:00.18 was more than enough for him to win his first event of the 2022 Rogue Invitational and move up to the first-place overall.

Chandler Smith had a similar tactic to Justin Medeiros and it also paid off for him, as he finished in second-place with a time of 11:04.54 and earned 95 points. Ricky Garard, on the other hand, started off incredibly strong, but started slowing down towards the end. However, he managed to hold on and finish in third-place with a time of 11:08.09.

The 17-year-old Emma Lawson also claimed her first victory of the 2022 Rogue Invitational in the first event of day two, which is one of the highlights of her career so far. She was the only women’s athlete who completed all the required repetitions, but needed just a few more seconds to cross the finish line. Regardless, with every other athlete falling behind the CAP score, Emma claimed 100 points.

Throughout this entire event, Arielle Lowen and Kara Saunders remained contenders for first place, but both fell two reps short when the time limit of 12 minutes had expired. Thus, Lowen and Saunders shared a second-place finish.

Jeffrey Adler also put up an impressive performance, having finished 12 seconds behind Nick and finished in second.

The consistent performances Justin Medeiros produced during each workout justified his reputation. After finishing in 4:46.58 and placing third, Justin immediately increased his lead over the field by 35 points.

The 2022 Rogue Invitational is Laura Horvath’s fourth time competing here, and she managed to score her first career event victory in the Back Attack workout. At the beginning of the workout, she took the lead and did not allow anyone even a chance of beating her. So, her time of 4:09.77 managed to earn her a very valuable 100 points.

In second place, Ellie Turner garnered 95 points as the only other woman to finish in under five minutes, with her time of 4:33.74. As for the third place finisher for the group of women, Anikha Greer surprised everyone, having finished the workout in 5:04.79. Anikha had a really bad start to the competition with an 18th and 20th place finishes in the first two events, but she suddenly outperformed almost everyone.

Sam Kwant was the only other man to complete the sequence in less than eight minutes, but was still not fast enough to beat the brilliant Roman. Jonne Koski was the next fastest to finish, so he got third and 90 points with a time of 8:04.49.

This could be the year for Laura Horvath who managed to grab a second consecutive event victory in the ‘DT With a Spin’. Similarly to the last event, Laura started off fast and nobody else was able to match it. Her end time was 8:44.62.

Alexis Raptis placed second with a speedy performance that could move the momentum her way in the next two days. She didn’t get off to the best start, so these points were much needed. Ellie Turner managed to beat Gabriele Migala by just two seconds to finish in the top three for the second consecutive event.
