The 2024 New York Pro is set to light up Teaneck, New Jersey with some of the world’s best bodybuilding competitors. This Olympia-qualifying competition features a total of nine divisions: Men’s Open, Classic Physique, 212 Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding, Women’s Physique, Figure, Bikini, and Wellness.

Returning 2023 New York Pro champion Tonio Burton is aiming to defend his title but will be tasked with facing a deep lineup of Open threats on the main stage. Most notably, former champion Nick Walker will be in attendance in pursuit of his qualification for the Olympia event later this year.

Fans and bodybuilders alike have gotten behind the shape and symmetry of Quinton Eriya, whose stature could spell problems for Walker. Meanwhile, Martin Fitzwater has also decided to compete, and favors his chances against ‘The Mutant.’ Whoever walks away victorious this weekend will gain considerable momentum heading into Olympia.

2024 New York Pro Top Contenders to Watch

Nick Walker

In 2021, Nick Walker captured gold at this contest and used that momentum to win his lone Arnold Classic title. It’s been a challenging road back to the stage for Walker, who suffered a hamstring and calf tear days before performing at the 2023 Olympia. In the wake of his absence on the grand stage, many, including judge Terrick El Guindy, thought he stood a solid shot at winning gold

Walker recently guest posed at the Pittsburgh Pro and although some were critical of his waist, he underscored that he has never missed a peak. With recovery a top priority and countless training sessions in the rearview, Walker intends to make a statement on the New York Pro stage.

Quinton Eriya

There is some mystery surrounding Eriya’s return to the stage after taking a one-year hiatus to improve his physique. Many have taken notice of Eriya’s newfound size this season. If he can retain fullness and present shredded conditioning on the New York Pro stage, he could easily be in title contention.

Quinton Eriya impressed in third place at the 2022 Tampa Pro behind Kamal Elgargni and Akim Williams. Then, fell to fifth place at the Texas Pro won by Andrew Jacked. Unlike Walker, who relies on freak factor, ‘Beastwood’ can use his shape and stature to his advantage.

Martin Fitzwater

Fitzwater is no stranger to testing himself against some of the world’s top Men’s Open competitors. He put his name on the map in 2022 after a close-fought contest with Andrew Jacked at the 2022 Texas Pro. After finishing fourth at the Arnold Classic UK that same year, Fitzwater took a year off to make adjustments to his physique.

His time away from the stage paid off as he bounced back brilliantly at the 2024 Detroit Pro. Even though Fitzwater has already earned his Olympia qualification, he is determined to test himself in New York against Walker. His fullness, ability to achieve dry conditioning, and thin waist make him a dangerous threat this weekend.

Tonio Burton

Tonio Burton plans to quiet naysayers who have largely backed Nick Walker as the potential winner. With bubbly muscle fullness and superior shape, Burton poses a unique challenge for many of his rivals. He won the New York Pro last year before placing second at the stacked 2023 California State Pro

To cap off his season in 2023, Burton proved himself on the Mr. Olympia stage, taking eighth place. If his conditioning and aesthetics are on point during prejudging and finals, there’s no denying Burton’s ability to mix it up with the best.
