Bodybuilding icon Ashley Kaltwasser stands as the most accomplished Bikini competitor in the history of the Olympia competition with three titles. In a recent YouTube video, Kaltwasser revealed why she maintains a packed schedule with frequent contest participation instead of taking a longer off-season.

Ashley Kaltwasser first gained attention for her impeccable balance, muscle shape, and stage presense in the IFBB Pro League. She turned in a fantastic season in 2013, scoring the top prize at the Powerhouse Classic, Toronto Pro Supershow, as well as runner-up finishes at three other events. She concluded the year by winning the coveted Mr. Olympia contest in the Bikini category.

Kaltwasser was at the height of her powers between 2013 and 2015. She added a successful title defense in 2014 and also won her maiden Arnold Sports Festival title. Her dominant run continued in 2015. She warded off rising prospects in her division to win a second Arnold title and a third Bikini Olympia title.

She’s proved herself as a threat at most of her appearances with a string of impressive victories in other shows, (2018 Vancouver Pro, 2021 Pittsburgh Pro, 2021 Texas Pro, 2021 Romania Muscle Fest Pro, 2022 Toronto Pro Supershow). Then, she took first at the 2022 Arnold Classic UK.

She has proven to be one of the most consistent and disciplined athletes in the sport. As per NPC News Online, Kaltwasser participated in 14 shows in 2021 and 12 shows last year. Kaltwasser is still in the mix of title contention 10 years from her first Olympia win. She placed third behind runner-up Jennifer Dorie and champ Maureen Blanquisco at the 2022 Mr. Olympia last December.

Ashley Kaltwasser reveals why she likes to compete regularly

In a recent YouTube video, Ashley Kaltwasser opened up on her motivations to keep a packed schedule with regular competition participation.

“I see the reasoning behind taking a longer off-season but there’s also other factors that I don’t think people realize,” said Kaltwasser. “Firstly, I’m the most motivated when I have a show that’s close. I don’t know how hard I’d be able to train knowing I can’t even compete for eight months. That just seems like such a long time and I also get the FOMO (fear of missing out). I also don’t want to put all my eggs into one basket only for it not to show any improvements.”

“Whenever I think about my legacy, I don’t want to think of just the Olympia wins. I want to think of my whole season, of all the great experiences I had, the memories I made, not just that I did great at the Olympia.”

Ashley Kaltwasser was last seen in action at the 2023 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend. She put up a tough fight and finished fourth. She has the most pro show wins of any competitor in the IFBB Pro League history with a total of 34.
