Bodybuilder and fitness star Chuck “Kali Muscle” Kirkendall recently took on a watermelon-only diet and lost weight. In a YouTube video, Kali Muscle talked about his dietary switch and revealed he’s feeling great at 188 pounds.
Even though Kali Muscle began his fitness journey without direction, he’s worked diligently to change that. At just 19, Kali went to prison but came out more motivated than ever. Turning his life around, he grew a successful YouTube channel and social media presence over the years with a ripped physique and engaging content.
In 2021, Kali Muscle suffered a heart attack, right around the time that the late former Mr. Olympia Shawn Rhoden passed away. Given his concerns about safety and longevity, Muscle decided to transform his life again. He quit steroids and now claims he’s natural. He’s also gone to great lengths urging competitors and younger athletes to avoid performance-enhancing drugs or risk death.
Kali Muscle has been open with fans about his nutrition and diets. In June, he took part in an interview and revealed he’s only consuming one meal a day, adding that, ‘everything we learned is fake.’ In his latest venture, he’s seeing how his body reacts to a fruit-only meal plan.

Kali Muscle 188 Lbs, Talks Watermelon-Only Diet for 9 Days: “You Feel Healthy”
Every morning, Kali prefers to start the day with cardio and mentioned his gut health has improved since starting the watermelon-only diet.
“Doing my cardio this morning, going to do about 15 minutes like I say, I don’t want to just drop weight crazily. I think I was 188 last night, in the mornings I be less. I be like 182 I think I was the other four. Yeah man, going good, day nine doing this cardio,” said Kali Muscle.
“I’m pooping every other day now, one log that floats never before seen in my life. So that’s spectacular man. That’s motivation to keep eating super healthy because you feel healthy, your body you know… it’s healthy.”
“This will be my ninth straight day of working out, there’s my 12 minutes right there [on the treadmill],” added Kali Muscle. “All I want now is the pump, keeping the muscle firm and tight. I’m not worried about getting overly muscular and putting excessive work – damage – on my organs.
That’s the whole precept of this watermelon challenge or whatever or fruitarian diet, raw food diet, is to keep your system not having to struggle to break down food, to get food written out of your stomach and intestines, because as you know, all of us that was on a sad diet, all that stuff is just locked up in there.”
“You need to get your life together, get your life together,” stressed Muscle.
Next, Muscle applies watermelon oil to his skin and shares that he’s given up on deodorants and toilet paper.
“Hey, a lot y’all on the watermelon challenge, y’all still using deodorants, using weird lotions and oils, if this is going to be all watermelon, it’s going to be all watermelon, you know what I’m saying. Anything on this body is watermelon. I don’t use no more deodorant so that’s out.
Toothpaste, I use the doctor Broner peppermint, I wish he had a watermelon one. Toilet paper, water melon. I don’t even use toilet paper no more, I got one log like a dog, it comes out in one piece you don’t need toilet paper.”
“Try something new in your life man, this going to benefit you. Solid eating, nothing but absolutely watermelon, I put that on my kid’s life, nothing but,” added Muscle. “I just ordered a new juicer this morning. It’s, I think it’s a Gemma something like that $500 but I get to just dump everything in there and it’ll juice it. I don’t have to do it one by one.”
Overall, Kali Muscle credited the fruit challenge for regulating his bowels.
“It’s gonna be like my fourth time eating today.”
“When I was first about to do this, I had a little stomach issue like a day before with eating watermelon, so I asked Bobby Smith and he told me that was normal what I was going through. I was like everybody else, I thought I was going to have diarrhea, and no, you really, your bowel movements become regulated.”
Despite the change in his diet, this wasn’t Kali Muscle’s first downsized update recently. In July, he showed off a trimmer build. He also revealed that he was struggling with mental health issues and said he’s focused on improving his depression moving forward.
Kali Muscle’s all-fruit challenge appears to be keeping him thin. One of his biggest reservations about the diet was stomach problems, but he says his digestion has only improved since eating watermelon only for the last nine days.
