Ever since he started competing in Strongman, Pavlo Nakonechnyy has displayed incredible talent and potential to become the greatest in the world. However, it is now safe to say that he is currently one of the unluckiest Strongmen in the world since he cannot catch a break this year. Having encountered multiple setbacks during the past few months, Pavlo’s situation culminated with a very bad car accident on August 16th. Despite looking like a real-life titan, Pavlo still sustained a number of injuries, which have forced him to alter his plans for the indefinite future.
Pavlo Nakonechnyy first revealed information about his car accident through Instagram, sharing a story with a picture of a totally wrecked car with activated airbags. Judging by where the damage was seen on the car, it seemed like Pavlo’s crash was head-on.
While it was not clear what the consequences of the car crash were for Pavlo Nakonechnyy, he shared an update on his page again. The picture displayed him and his girlfriend both in wheelchairs, with one of Pavlo’s legs fully immobilized. In an additional post, Pavlo shared some more footage of him in a hospital bed.
However, Pavlo Nakonechnyy still remained grateful for coming out alive from the car accident. So, he stated that the day of the crash was his “second birthday”, since he has been lucky enough to continue living.

Pavlo Nakonechnyy’s car accident happened just three days before the 2023 Shaw Classic, which is why he did not make an appearance. Moreover, he is now forced to withdraw from the 2023 Giants Live World Open & World Deadlift Championships, which will take place on September 2nd. It is also unlikely that Pavlo will be able to compete at the 2023 Rogue Invitational in October, but his withdrawal has not been confirmed yet.
Pavlo Nakonechnyy had an incredible start to the year, having put up a 450-kilogram (992-pound) raw deadlift in training. After seeing this, many fans believed that he could break Hafthor Bjornsson’s Deadlift World Record of 501 kilograms (1,104.5 pounds) with a few more months to train.
However, Pavlo Nakonechnyy’s streak of bad luck began shortly after, as he sustained a knee injury at the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic. This forced him to withdraw from the 2023 Europe’s Strongest Man and 2023 World’s Strongest Man competitions. So, his entire 2023 season has been ruined by unfortunate situations.
Pavlo Nakonechnyy has already built an impressive reputation in the sport of Strongman, despite being just 26 years old. He is recognized as a true stationary machine, especially when it comes to deadlifting. Pavlo has also won one out of the eight competitions he took part in.

Luckily, even though the severity of his injuries and his return date have not been revealed yet, Pavlo Nakonechnyy is still very determined to get back to his best shape. This is clear from the captions of his Instagram stories, as he stated “Never Give Up” and “I Will Be Back”. It’s evident that he’s gained a newfound appreciation for life, as he focuses on his rehabilitation and strives to once again compete for prestigious titles.
