Hunter Labrada, one of the Open class’ finest, is offering up one of his go-to meals during the off-season and in contest prep. In a recent Muscle and Strength YouTube video, Labrada showcased his ‘meathead stir fry fried rice’ recipe for muscle building.
“I wanted to show you one of my favorite go-to meals both in prep and in the off-season. We’re going to be making a meathead fried rice,” shared Hunter Labrada.
As the son of bodybuilding icon Lee Labrada, Hunter had big shoes to fill as an IFBB Pro, though it didn’t take long for fans to take notice of his streamlined physique, structure, and muscle volume. Having placed as high as fourth on the prestigious Mr. Olympia stage, Labrada continues to make advancements toward a more complete physique.
In what he has described as a ‘slingshot year,’ Labrada finished sixth on the 2023 Mr. Olympia stage, an improvement from 2022 where he placed seventh. In addition to setting his sights on his next bodybuilding contest, Labrada disclosed one of his most relied-upon meals used throughout his career.

Hunter Labrada Shows Off His High-Calorie Muscle-Building Fried Rice Meal
Check out Hunter Labrada’s fried rice stir fry recipe below:
- 300 grams Jasmine rice (8 grams protein, 86 grams carbs, 0 grams fat)
- 200 grams of Beef sirloin (54 grams protein, 0 grams carbs, 28 grams fat)
- Siracha Maple Flavor Gang Sauce
- 2 Eggs
- Truffle Salt
- Sesame Seeds
- Everything Bagel Seasoning
- Takeout Sauce from Flavor Gang
- White onion
- Green onion
Labrada uses Flavor Gang sauces to add additional seasoning to his food.
“This is a big secret for making your food taste good, Flavor Gang sauces I can’t say enough good things about these things. It makes my food incredible, it’s good enough that three times in prep I was traveling and ran out and literally made Ross overnight it to my hotel.”
He also advocates for a Zojirushi rice maker for anyone consuming white rice five times a day.
“This is another one of those little-known meathead secrets, it’s the Zorirushi hi rice maker. So it is expensive but if you eat white rice five times a day years on end like I do it’s so worth it,” shared Labrada. “It makes rice significantly better than anything I’ve ever had it out of. I’m a big fan of them.”
While he used to drink a lot of his calories, Labrada mentioned he doesn’t anymore and prefers his food cut up as much as possible.
“A really lean cut of beef [sirloin],” said Hunter Labrada. “I’m a big proponent of getting my food as cut up and pre-chewed as possible. I think the last video you all saw me do, I was still drinking a lot of my food. I’m not doing that anymore but still definitely doing what I can to make it as easy to get down as possible, not that appetite is an issue right now.”
After dicing up the egg, Labrada enjoyed his high-calorie muscle-building fried rice.
“Dice the egg up pretty fine on top and then I just kind of stir it all up. Like I said at the beginning of the video, it’s kind of like meathead stir fry fried rice.”
“That is one of my go-to high-calorie muscle-building meals.”
Labrada’s focus on dieting has only grown as of late. He recently joined his father Lee for a discussion on pre-workout nutrition. Lee and Hunter each described the frequent meal options they consumed before taking on a taxing training session. Most importantly, they both agreed it’s best to keep things simple.
Fans look forward to Hunter Labrada’s next bodybuilding contest. In the meantime, Labrada appears content with adding size in the off-season as he dials in preparations for the future.
