Jay Cutler is known for more than winning four Mr. Olympia titles, he has also found success as an aspiring businessman. In a recent JayCutlerTV YouTube video, Cutler reflected on his experience pitching a deal for his ‘Jay’s Pet Butter’ company on the ABC hit TV series Shark Tank.

As a Men’s Open Pro, Jay Cutler was a trailblazer in the 2000s, having graced bodybuilding stages and dominated top-tier talent with sheer work ethic and shocking muscularity. He dethroned eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman, who holds the record for most Sandow trophies ever won at eight, tied with Lee Haney.

In retirement, Cutler remains one of the busiest and most successful bodybuilders. He has parlayed his experience into success as a thriving business owner, contributor, and ambassador. Cutler’s name is associated with many influential brands such as Young LA clothing and Trifecta, a meal-prepping business. Now, the bodybuilding legend’s attention has turned to pet food.

Jay Cutler Reacts to Being on Shark Tank Series

Aiming to secure an investment, Cutler offered the sharks a potential 10% ownership stake in ‘Jay’s Pet Butter’ for $50,000. Ultimately, the investors backed out except Kevin ‘Mr. Wonderful’ O’Leary, who offered Cutler a royalty deal, which the 50-year-old bodybuilder declined.

Taking to his YouTube channel, Cutler reflected on the experience and gave his thoughts on entering the pet food industry.

“So today is Shark Tank. So, Today is Shark Tank,” said Cutler. “Someone is going to tape it. So we have this product being launched on Shark Tank. This is the Pet Butter, it’s peanut butter for dogs, which of course, they love. This is going to air tonight on Shark Tank so by the time you see this video.”

Cutler clarified that the Shark Tank episode was filmed last June.

“[We filmed in] June. I can’t tell you the results. But, I’m going diving into the pet space. Okay, so we have a lot of other cool things that are happening in the pet space. Capone and Daisy are the stars of the show. It actually has their image. I woke up this morning and said to Capone, I said you’re going to be star.”

“So, but, you know everyone has reached out to me man. A lot of people, which I’m surprised, a lot of people didn’t know about it! A lot of people didn’t know. Dude, I’ve been promoting this for how – much before June we film, but it’s been out for well over a year.”

Aside from his new pet butter business, Cutler opened up about a few of his other obligations.

“You know what it is too, I promote a lot of things. I have the nutrition, the clothes, the Young LA all these things, Fat Grips and belts, I think people, Trifecta, people see so many different things that I’m involved in that they are like ‘Oh, you know,’ maybe they just pass over it. It’s got its own Instagram @jayspetbutter and jayspetbutter.com is where you can actually purchase.”

“So that’s kind of exciting,” adds Cutler.

Despite retiring from the sport, Cutler’s involvement in bodybuilding is undeniable. In addition to breaking down the top talent of the Men’s Open category, Cutler has been honest about the money it took to reach the highest level. He admits to spending as much as $50,000 on food per year in the prime of his career. To meet his high protein demands, Cutler regularly purchased whole cows and 150 pounds of chicken at a time.

While it’s unfortunate Jay Cutler couldn’t strike a deal, his reputation and success are constant reminders that he always prioritized business throughout his career.
