Former three-time Wellness Olympia champion Francielle Mattos is out of the 2025 Mr. Olympia. In a post shared via Instagram on Sept. 11, 2025, she confirmed she won’t be at the event, revealing that her body and mind needed a break from competing.

While once a Fitness IFBB Pro, Mattos ultimately found her home in the Wellness division. From 2021–2023, she dominated the Wellness landscape and secured three consecutive Olympia titles. Her signature glute density and stage presence were key to these victories.

However, in 2024, Mattos failed to defend the title successfully and surrendered it to Isabelle Nunes. The contest was incredibly close, with Nunes outpacing Mattos on the scorecard by just a single point. Though it looked like the rematch was in the works, it seems Nunes has one less challenger to worry about.

In the official statement, Mattos confirmed she will miss out on her first Wellness Olympia contest.

“✨ Important Announcement ✨

This year Mr. Olympia will hold its 5th edition of the Wellness category… and for the first time, i won’t be there.

It’s been almost 10 years dedicated to sports, a journey marked by struggles, overcoming and achievements that changed my life forever. Along the way, I lived the dream of climbing the biggest bodybuilding stage in the world and had the honor of becoming the triple-champion of Mr. Olympia Wellness—a title that is not just mine but everyone who believed in me.”

The former three-time Wellness Olympia winner said her body and mind were due for a much-needed break.

“Saying that I won’t be present in 2025 brings me great sadness, because my athlete soul always dreams of giving my best every season.

But this year my body and mind have asked for a much needed break. I needed to turn my eyes on what sustains everything I’ve built: my health, my family, and also the new projects that are emerging that require a lot from me.”

With time to reflect, Mattos plans to continue building her physique.

“I have learned that being a champion goes beyond trophies. It is also knowing to recognize the moment to breathe, to take care of yourself, and to continue building with love and purpose.”

She emphasized that this break is not the end of her career:

“Thank you to everyone who always supports me, cheers me on and believes in my journey. This break is not the end, but part of the road. Because those who love this sport never stop living for it. ⭕️✨🏆” Mattos shared.

With Mattos out of the picture, Nunes is the clear favorite heading into the Wellness Olympia. But it won’t just be the usual suspects when Nunes aims to defend the title; there’s also new blood entering the division. Former two-time Women’s Physique Olympia Shanique Grant exited retirement for Wellness. She’s already found success onstage, clinching her qualification to compete against the best in less than a month.

Francielle Mattos will be missed on the Mr. Olympia stage. The show must go on, and fans are eager to see how Mattos’ absence will affect the rankings for the show’s return from Oct. 9–12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
